Covid-19 update After the announcement of the Ontario wide lockdown today, we want to reassure you all that the services rendered at our office are able to continue to operate. We will remain open with our regular business hours, aside from the upcoming holiday closures. At this time we are reminding patients to only come for your scheduled appointment time. While our waiting room has been arranged to ensure social distancing, we are limiting the waiting room for patients wh...o are in between multiple appointments in the clinic only. We therefore ask you to remain in your vehicles until you are called in for your appointment time. Its with a heavy heart but a great sense of social responsibility that we have collectively decided to temporarily close TIHC. Hey everyone, Weve been working through a new protocol this weekend fairly tirelessly. Weve consulted with our colleges to get direction on how to approach the upcoming weeks. This is what weve come up with to protect ourselves and protect all of you while we remain open and continue to treat. This isnt exactly the end of the discussion here with this post and of course any of it is subject to change but it has been carefully thought out and we feel does a good job both t...aking into account whats happening currently and also taking extra precaution above and beyond what the WHO is recommending at this time. Firstly what were doing at the office. We have already modified the text and email reminders that go out to patients to include a warning that if anyone has travelled anywhere (not just COVID 19 effected areas) via airplane they need to reschedule their appointment until they are shown to be asymptomatic for two weeks. Also, if anyone has any symptoms of fever, cough or respiratory problems or if theyve been in close contact with anyone who has that they reschedule their appointment. We are posting notices on the front door, reception area, every treatment room and the bathrooms reiterating the same. We will have a hand washing station at the front desk. Cheri and Liz will ensure everyone washes their hands with either the sanitizer or the soap or they will not be admitted to the clinic. We are removing all magazines, communal slippers and anything else that can be touched and handled in the waiting room. We are going to space out the chairs separately in the waiting room better so people are at least 1m apart. Please refrain from bringing anyone with you to your appointments at this time to avoid congestion. We will wash our hands diligently (Of course we all already do but we will want to reassure everyone that we are) and we will do our best to wipe down door handles etc in between patients while were cleaning our tables etc. That is our end of things, now for your end of things. We will continue to be here treating everyone and putting ourselves at risk doing so assuming everyone is respecting the conditions laid out above. If you are sick or have been out of the country via airplane travel please self quarantine yourselves until you have shown to be asymptomatic for 2 full weeks. We have a communal sense of responsibility to protect each other during this time to try and help stop the spread of the Coronavirus. Stay safe...and go wash your hands! Your TIHC team! Great advice for all those office workers out there getting sore at your desk!! Except for Cheri and Liz of course!!

Back pain is best managed by a team approach to care, with the team consisting of a chiropractor, family doctor or nurse practitioner, and others such as a physiotherapist and registered massage therapist. Professionals aware of these current clinical guidelines, who are open to collaborating or even better, have existing professional relationships to help co-ordinate your care, will serve you well. You should be wary of clinicians who discourage collaboration. While this is an important chiropractic article it was this paragraph that really stood out! This has been what TIHC has always strived to be and what we try to deliver each and every day. A collaborative, team based approach, all working together to better your care and outcomes! While most Canadians are aware of the prevalence of both chronic pain and mental illness, the frequency with which the two are connected is less understood. The Canadian Mental Health Association reports that people with chronic physical conditions experience depression and anxiety at twice the rate of the general population. For those working on their New Years resolutions heres a great tip!!

Round one of the sock donation is complete in order to get the socks collected to date to where they needed to go by Christmas. That said we are still collecting socks leading up to 20K sock day in February. That leaves everyone lots of time to still bring in their donations! Remember TIHC will also match all cash donations so if you dont have time to purchase socks well do it for you! Merry Christmas everyone and thank you so much for your support!!
