We're back with a working phone! You can expect prompt answers from Kara as well as our volunteers. Any pending foster applications that have been requested are being sent out this evening when our phone finishes transferring data. Hope everyone is having a good day!

Our cell phone that we use primarily for running the rescue is currently broken. We are hoping to replace/repair it on or before November 10th. Until then, we will be a little slower to answer Facebook messages and we can not answer incoming phone calls (or even make outgoing calls). If you contact us through Facebook, its likely that one of our wonderful volunteers will get to you before Kara does, but rest be assured we are still here to help - we're just a little disconnected right now.

An update with mister Jack. We were able to get him seen locally and meds prescribed. Thankfully his bill was covered by a generous donation and the remainder was covered by his previous owner. He is already on the upswing, jumping around his cage when he was acting lethargic only days before. Jack is expected to make a full recovery in about 2 weeks!

And so the phone tag with the vets starts. Yesterday we noticed porphyrin coming from the nose of our 4th rat, Jack, that was found outside and stuck between two window panes. This is a typical sign of an upper respiratory infection, which comes as no surprise since he spent a few days outside. We are monitoring closely and peridotically listening to his breathing to make sure pneumonia isn't setting in. If it does progress to pneumonia, this can quickly become an emergency. ...When we get an appointment, its expected to cost us approximately $90 for the exam and approximately $80 for a prescription of antibiotics, totalling to about $170. If you would like to donate to the vet bill of Jack, we are accepting emts to [email protected]. When we secure an appointment, we will ask about payments on the account but historically we have not been allowed to do this, but we will try. We will also post vet bills when we get them. Please share!!

Copied from our friends at Sleeping Giant Exotics! We saw their foraging pumpkin and we were inspired to make our own! Mini yellow pepper jack-o-lanterns stuffed with hay and treats were served with dinner tonight

This ivory mystery snail goes to his forever home this afternoon! Here he is enjoying some snail cookies from Crayfish Empire LLC. Did you know? Mystery snails need calcium and protein as well as greens in their diet! They can not survive on algae alone, and infact algae is the smallest portion of their diet.

Poor Trip had another episode of bloat. This time is got really bad. The first 3 photos were of Trip last night. And the 4th and 5th photos were approximately 16 hours after being medicated. As you can see, he's still floating on his side, but wow! Look at how much the swelling has gone down! Trippy needs all your good thoughts right now while he rests up

We have had quite a few adoptions over the last couple of days, so here goes: CONGRATULATIONS Twig, Sonny, Greta, Mars, Ben, Jerry, 3 plecos, and 2 snails for finding your new forever homes! Unfortunately our intake remains closed at this time. We are working through some changes and plan to reopen our intake before the winter sets in. We have freed up enough space to be able to take on emergency surrenders if needed, but we still have our waitlist established for those who can wait to come into care.

Heres the update you've all been waiting for! The bunnies made it safe and sound to Kozy Kritters in Embrun! We were super busy yesterday so we didn't get to update the page, but here's some pictures of the buns at meal time in the Sault and a collage of all the buns playing outside at Kozy Kritters Once again, thank you to everyone involved in this rescue mission because we couldn't have done it without all of you... Good luck, not-so-little buns! We know you're going to find the best homes over there!

Today Caramel, Zewo, Costanza, Chocolate & Cheesecake the bunny rabbits all left on a very big adventure today. The original plan was to transport these buns to Alliston & District Humane Society in Everett, ON (outside of Barrie) but they had their own emergency involving bunnies and couldn't lend a hand with ours any longer. We had to reach out to another rescue and luckily Kozy Kritters in Embrun, ON (outside of Ottawa) agreed to lend a hand! So yeah, we had to send the bu...nnies a little further than we originally intended, but they're going to be in great hands! They left Thunder Bay at 6am this morning and by now they should just about be in Sault Ste. Marie where they will have a meal break and spot clean the carriers. We owe a lot of thank yous for this rescue mission: Thank you Donald for driving from Thunder Bay to Sudbury, Thank you Claude for driving from Sudbury to Embrun, Thank you Danielle & Family for fostering these bunnies, Thank you Ashley & Alyshia of Ashleys Little Rabbitry for your support and referring us to Kozy Kritters, Thank you Meaghan & Graham for assisting with in-town transportation, and lastly a huge THANK YOU to Kozy Kritters for stepping up to take these rabbits! Friends and supporters, we encourage you to follow Kozy Kritters if you wish to receive further updates about the buns. If anyone would like to make a donation to Kozy Kritters for these rabbits, their email for etransfer is [email protected] and leave a message saying its for the bunnies. We forgot to take pictures of the buns all packed up so we have no pictures for this post! We will make another post when the buns arrive safe and sound!

Another bun in the spotlight is Twilight! A female English spotted/nz mix thats about a year old. Twilight is a permanent resident of our rescue and will not be shipped out with the other buns as long as her foster is committed to caring for her. Twilight came into care quite timid and scared. She nearly jumped out of our arms the first time anyone tried to hold her. While Twilight still isn't a fan of being picked up, she has no problem jumping right into your lap for cuddles! Twilights foster is working hard on getting this chonky girl to lose some weight too. Twilight would be best suited as a house bun with lots of free roam time with another female rabbit or by herself.

Did you know? We have a variety of fish in rescue! We're still learning what's the best way to photograph them so we're slow to update our aquatic critter list, but here is one lucky female albino bristlenose pleco who was bagged and sent off to her forever home. Obviously "through the bag" ain't the best way to photograph some fish, either... We have the following fish available for adoption: Albino bristlenose plecos, males and females Kribensis cichlids, males and females Jewel cichlid pair, male and female Jack Dempsey pair, male and female Common goldfish fry, too young to sex Apple snails, mostly males but some females Trip the albino tiger oscar Magnus the albino tiger oscar (available September 15th) We have also transported fish within Northwestern Ontario and are not opposed to shipping to the right home out of town. Message the page to ask about any of our fishies!

Here are pics of the only female that came into rescue, and she leaves us tomorrow to go on an in-cabin flight to her forever home in Ottawa. We are so excited for this lucky lady, she is going to have the best mama! Her foster says she's a shy and timid girl but has no aggression issues whatsoever. Good luck tomorrow baby girl! You have a stressful day ahead of you but we promise its for the greater good

We were asked by a supporter if we had an Amazon wishlist for the rabbits we just received. Below is a list of necessities we need to constantly replenish for them while they stay with us. If you can afford a bag or two of hay or food, we would greatly appreciate it! https://www.amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/ls/36PHG9RX6ZHQH
