You just literally do not mean anything to him and as such he sees no reason to allow you to invade his personal space. Yes, he backs off when you try to force your unwanted affection on him. No, he is not afraid. He's just getting the hell away from you because he thinks you're rude and inappropriate. Dogs that don't OH MY GAWD LOVE EVERYONE are not automatically mean or scared. Sometimes they just don't give a crap about saying hello. Love, His Equally "Unfriendly" Owner

Impulse training exercise: Thor ate his bone really quickly and tried, once he was done, to take the very passive Denalis bone from her. I made it very clear that behaviour was not tolerated. As you can see from the video he’s settled in beside her, body language none confrontational. He has a history of guarding his own bones from other dogs. I have to make it very clear to him that no other dog will take his bone and he will, in turn, not steal another dogs bone. ... I’ve work been working since spring to get Thors skin under control. For those who don’t know I’ve had some major health issues with Thor this year and one of those was him loosing so much fur/shedding like mad and being really itchy. I’m so happy to say I tweaked his diet to where I’ve at least addressed one issue! And of course Denalis coat has benefited as well!
