I just want to send out a huge thank you to all of my new and existing clients I really appreciate everyone’s flexibility and understanding over the past 2 weeks. My youngest daughter Taylor, decided to share her sniffles with me which meant a 2 week self isolation period for me... I did my due diligence as a nurse and immediately had a swab done (which was negative of course). I have been working tirelessly on updating all of my policies and procedures to ensure Treat Your Feet delivers the safest care possible

Mary of Rose Petal Doll Boutique is usually busy preparing for craft shows and working as a valuable member of our health care team. With no craft fairs to attend she has taken to making quality washable masks with 2 layers of interfacing. These masks come with a little carry bag and are available for $7.50 each thru me (different colours are available-selection will vary) As we move into the next phase of our new normal it will be a requirement that all clients receiving treatment wear a mask as social distancing cannot be maintained during care. Disposable masks are in high demand and short supply so this is a great option at an awesome price Thanks again Mary !!

Changed out my nursing back pack for a hard shell suit case for easy cleaning between house calls. Packing slightly more kit tomorrow as I am at Heritage Place and need to do my presoaking after each treatment. (Usually my ET foam and lock and lock storage container are in the back of my car and I transport tools from client to car via plastic container).

At Treat Your Feet the learning never stops ! Although routine foot care treatments are on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic I am still working hard to provide the most competent care possible I am working on my certification in the Onyfix nail correction system for ingrown/involuted nails. The Onyfix system has been very effective in correcting ingrown nails and has been used by The Toe Bro for any of you who have seen his show on TV. I am excited to be able to offer this service to both children and adults in the future !

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Last week I shared a letter from NNPBC which recommended that LPN Foot Care Services be placed on hold. My plan was to completely hold all services until will can flatten the curve on COVID-19 On Friday I was faced with an urgent situation. I was contacted by a fellow nurse regarding a client who could potentially develop a wound if foot care could not be done. Luckily I was able to facilitate care for this client ... This situation sparked me to contact my regulatory body BCCNP to seek guidance and discuss the continued need to support the small population of essential foot care clients in our community I received a message from BCCNPs Regulatory Practice Consultant indicating that although we are all following the guidelines and recommendations which have been set for us on a Provincial level there is still a need to support clients who are essential, meaning, a risk would be created if service is not provided I will continue to use my professional assessment and decision making skills to screen clients and will provide care to support high risk clients ONLY until I am able to resume regular service What does this mean? Most clients will fall into the non-essential group. Unfortunately, long nails does not make routine foot care treatments essential Please file your nails at home until I can resume regular services. I will be calling you as your appointments come up to postpone care and offer advice as to how to manage at home for now For the small population of high risk clients both pre-existing and new to me, please contact me. I will complete a phone assessment/interview and book your appointment accordingly providing you meet the criteria for essential care and support Please continue to maintain social distancing practices, wash your hands regularly, plan ahead to minimize unnecessary trips to the stores, stay safe and support one another during this difficult time. Many thanks Samantha LPN, AFCN

Did you know that the tools used in foot care are considered critical instruments This means that foot care tools must be steam sterilized and have either a printout or electronic record for each cycle The use of liquid sterilization is no longer best practice as there are limitations in maintaining sterility to point of use With the exception of glass files (which cannot be autoclaved per MIFU) all equipment used at Treat Your Feet is reprocessed, packaged and steril...ized using an autoclave. Biological indicators (spore test) are used with every load which is a 24 hour incubation test Disinfection and sterilization are essential for ensuring that medical instruments do not transmit infection pathogens to clients. Critical items of instrumentation confer a high risk for infection if they are contaminated with any microorganism https://ipac-canada.org//Position%20Statement%20%20_Reproc

https://scottandkat.ca/customers-of-a-guelph-nail-salon-ad/ This is why I’m happy to be a regulated provider following best practice guidelines to ensure safe care to all of my clients! At Treat Your Feet all foot care instruments that come in direct contact with nails and skin have been reprocessed and cleaned properly and then autoclaved. I run spore tests with each load of tools and do not release them for use until they have a negative reading and tools are sterile to point of use which provides ease of mind to all This is one of many reasons why you should choose a foot care nurse
