I honestly have so much going on these days I dont know where to start :) This week I headed down to PG on Monday afternoon and did a presentation to a group o...f business people in PG on the Natural Gas/LNG sector on Tuesday morning. A really good turnout of about 40 people and it was simply an attempt to continue to inform and educate poeple on the energy sector. Wednesday was budget meeting all day at the PRRD Board and then PRRD board mtg yesterday. During the week we had the announcement about the Greyhound service being removed from Northern BC which resulted in a call with the Minister of Transportation yesterday afternoon (during the Board mtg) to talk about facilitating a meeting with the Minister up here in the coming weeks to discuss the impacts of the removal of the service and what we can try to do to find solutions. Very impressed that the Minister phoned me to discuss this. I also had a discussion last night with the Deputy Minister of Energy regarding the natural gas development in the area. I had a couple of questions/concerns so good to be able to connect with senior govt folks. establishing relationships is so imporatant. Ploughed thru a bunch of other stuff this morning and continue to make progress on our push for the hospital renovation project. We have sent off the letter of invitation to the Minister of Health and obtained another letter from our friends at the Treaty 8 Tribal Association providing their support for the project. Obtained the support from the PRRD Board to make some recomendations to govt on how we can help facilitate the stages of the renovation project. It is my expectation that the Minister will be here in mid March ?? and we will demonstrate how significant this renovation project is once he sees the hospital for himself. I had a really informative meeting today with Don from Triple J Pipelines. This is a company that is fast becoming one of the largest employers in Dawson Creek. It is hard to believe how signifacant they are in the city and region. I had a great discussion with Don and very excited to see how strong the future looks for them in the area and how excited they are for the future of Dawson Creek. You only have to drive past the old Greendsmart building and see the amount of activity out there now and it is truly exciting to see how Triple J are making a big impact and committment to Dawson Creek. It is these small/medium sized businesses that grow a community. Got to get ready for council meeting Monday morning as well as out city budget is well underway. See more
