Turning Light Images

November 21~ sunrise sunset. -14. Winds 5-8 N. It seems that this it the The End photo for 2020 freeze-up. We looked and waited to see if there would be any change but so far today the ice is holding. McLeod Bay, or at least as far as we can see seems to be frozen. Endings are funny things, we know they are coming and we know that you can’t have a beginning unless you have an ending. But even when we know they are coming they can still be a surprise as in, I thought I wo...uld have more time. I will leave you with that thought. Thank you again for joining me on the annual freeze-up photo story. Our world of travel has just opened up and I will be sharing more photos as we go along here of our winter. November 20 ~ sunrise 8:49 sunset 15:15 -21 winds SW 21. One day is not like the other...While in bed this morning listening to the wind outside, I fully expected to take my morning walk to the shoreline and see broken ice and water in the distance. Nope, not this time. Only blowing snow. And ice. Wow, that would be something to have freeze-up over and done with on November 20. It has been years (1993) since we have an early freeze-up. Stay tuned, we haven’t called it yet.

November 19 ~ okay I am doing two photos for today. (a see first post for details ). Black ice and frost flowers this morning. Always a good sign.

November 19~ sunrise 8:46 sunset 15:18 Black ice and frost flowers...both are telling of a good freeze-up. Now we shall see how long it lasts!

November 18 ~ sunrise 8:44 sunset 15:20 -15C 7-10 ENE. This early morning photo with ICM ( intentional camera movement) was taken an hour before sunrise on an overcast morning. This represents the mood of the morning rather than the actual view. Sometimes it is fun to shake things up and share a different perspective on the day.

November 17 ~ sunrise 8:41 sunset 15:23 -10C 10-15 west winds. One moment in a day of changing weather. The morning started out grey and windy, snow fell and then out of our north window we saw blue skies. Sure enough it turned into a sunny day. The water is still right up to our shoreline but the ice ridges are formidable. Onward into November and freeze-up we go.
