I have some new boards that will soon be ready for a new home. You can buy these from me directly at Mill Market, at my shop location or on line.
I had a good day on St. Joseph Island. A red tailed hawk and two photos of a Great Grey owl.
This yellow birch burl is now available for purchase along with many more burl bowls. Check out my Etsy store.
Check out this virtual A Wabi Sabi exhibition and sale. Our show was cancelled this year due to COVID-19 so a few committee members put this on line show and sale together.
This yellow birch burl table is now at Mill Market and will be available at $100 off regular price. It has been epoxied, sanded and polished. Gorgeous tiger stripe grain in this piece. Now priced at $500. It would make an ideal accent to any home.
It was a good news, bad news day! I set out to St. Joseph Island, the Fort to be exact in search of the elusive (to me not anyone else) Barred owl. The gate to ...the historic site is closed this time of year so I made a long trek (about 12,000 steps return) to the fort hoping I would see a Barred owl along the way as others have done. Other than a few red polls and chickadees, the path was barren. I finally made it to the fort's location and lo and behold, an owl flies ahead of me into a distant tree. I could only get off one long range shot before the owl took off for some other location. Oh well I thought, at least I have one photo of a Barred owl to show for my efforts. I downloaded the file only to realize that this was NOT a Barred owl but a Great Horned owl (also on my bucket list). To make a long story short, those damn Barred owls have it in for me! I guess I am barred from taking photos of one! See more

A few hours at Whitefish and St. Mary's Islands in the Sault today yielded a Great blue heron and its sushi lunch, a juvenile black crowned night heron, a belted kingfisher and a ring billed gull among others.
During Remembrance Day I will be donating 10% of my sales to my Royal Canadian Legion branch in Richards Landing. Bless those who served and those who continue to serve.
This black walnut is amazing. This bowl will be about 2 feet in diameter and 10 inches deep! It will take over a year to air dry however. Patience is a virtue!
A panorama composite taken at MacDonald Drive off Neebish Road, Laird Township today around noon. Fabulous weather.
Abandoned bridge near Rydal Bank. Processed in Lightroom, then Aurora HDR. Nov. 8 2020

I will be there!
From October 29 near Echo Bay. I saw this mature bald eagle being harassed by several crows. They drew my attention to it and I just happened to have my equipment with me! (almost always carry it).
October 29 in Echo Bay. The Yellow legs were not as shy yesterday. Here I was able to capture both Greater and Lesser yellow legs together.
Ruffed Grouse. Beautiful!
Are you a crafter, canner, handmaker? We are still looking for some new Wednesday evening vendors! Please message the page for instructions on how to apply to b...e a vendor this season! ( ? ! !)

Mill Market tomorrow from 9 until 2. I will have plenty of functional, artistic and gift items available as will other vendors. It is time to buy early and buy local!
A juvenile bald eagle photographed on October 22 near Desbarats. It was a dull dreary day, I used a shutter speed of 1/2000 f6.5 with my Nikon D850 and a Tamron 150-600mm fully extended. ISO was on auto and it was pushed pretty high. The RAW photo was first processed in Lightroom, then I played with Topaz Denoise AI to reduce the noise in the image. The photo is cropped as well. It is hear to get the amount of detail I prefer under these conditions. I will continue to play around with it though.
Mill Market today and I have lighting! Easier to find treasures among the wide selection of products avaliable. @ Mill Market Sault Ste. Marie
The road into Suddaby Park, October 9, 2020. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
This maple tree caught my attention October 9 in Suddaby Park, Plummer Township. I liked the fall colours contrasted against a moody autumn sky. The original RAW file photo was processed using Lightroom and Aurora HDR. Shot using a Tokina 16-28mm f2.8 and my Nikon D850
From this afternoon in Laird Township, a Cooper's hawk likely waiting for an unsuspecting prey; two photos of a white crow that has become a local celebrity among bird watchers and photographers but is not well liked by its black cousins.
A new batch of boards. Waiting for oil to dry. Please note that every Tuesday in October there is free shipping in Canada for small businesses like mine. Check out my on line products https://www.theturningpoint.ca #turner #photography #woodturning #handmade
From Monday Sept 28 at Kinsmen Park. A rainy day but awesome colours along the Crystal Creek trail.
My calendars are in! I will have them at Mill Market Saturday or make an order. They are $25 each. @ The Turning Point Woodworking and Photography
Some epoxy work and new boards today at Mill Market. The table is from a yellow birch burl and it has an epoxy finish. #turner @ Mill Market Sault Ste. Marie
One more black walnut half log section roughed out ready for a protective wax coating and more than a year drying time before I can finish the turning. The largest bowl measures 21 inches across and 10 inches deep.
Last week I decided to go on a photo trip and tried out a variable neutral density filter I bought some time ago. This is one taken with my Nikon D850, 5 bracke...ts and processed using Aurora HDR. This was taken at Little Rapids. The filter enables longer shutter speeds to smooth out the water flow. See more
From one block of the black walnut log I recently acquired, I have 5 bowls. The largest is 19 inches across. Beautiful wood. It has now been coated with a sealant and will air dry slowly in a sheltered location for over a year. @ The Turning Point Woodworking and Photography

Mill Market 9 to 2 today. Small cutting boards on sale 50% off regular price. Also oil (confetti) lamps at 50% off. I have a new batch of bread knives, large and small spatulas and face masks in two sizes for children and two for adults. @ Mill Market Sault Ste. Marie
This week I obtained a massive 27 inch diameter, 10 foot long black walnut log from south western Ontario. It took some cutting, two trips and help from a Mennonite supplier but here is the work I have ahead of me! The second photo is one of the pieces being roughed out on the outside. One step at a time. Beautiful wood. @ The Turning Point Woodworking and Photography
I have a variety of spatulas now available. Note also that the 50% off sale for cutting boards will continue tomorrow at Mill Market.
