Funeral homes have traditionally used register books as a permanent record of who attended a visitation or service. In the era of Covid-19, many funeral homes are adapting this traditional component as a convenient way to monitor contact tracing. Some funeral homes in smaller communities have someone entering all the personal details in the register book for each guest. It’s a great way to get to know people in your community! Other funeral homes have set up two cups or baskets at the register book on the lectern: One for sanitized pens and one for used pens. Staff simply sanitize the used pens as needed! How are you using register books at your funeral home?

Last week, we were able to pay tribute to a gentleman who has played a huge part in Vaella Consulting’s story. Ron Hohs (AKA Hosie) is retiring after an amazing 44 year career in funeral service and 11 years with us at Vaella. His dinner came complete with a casket cake! . Thank you, thank you, thank you. In our ongoing efforts to be of assistance during this process, and in keeping with industry requirements, we have developed a helpful guest book signature page to assist funeral home staff with tracking people walking through your doors.... Visitors will be required to log phone number and time of attendance. This information will only be used in the event that it is necessary to trace all attendees who may have been exposed to someone else in attendance that has become infected with COVID-19.
