#RecruitmentTipTuesday Part 1/4 on everything you need to know about phone interviews: our top 5 phone interview tips! When you are expecting a phone interview, there are a few things you can do to ensure you are just as prepared as you would be for an in-person interview, including:... 1 Use a landline - If you have one! This will help you to eliminate the possibility of dropped calls or poor cell reception. 2 Clear the room - Ensure you have a way to keep pets or kids busy before receiving an interview call. Turn off the TV and stereo, close the door and windows in the room. This way, you can limit distractions and focus on your interview. 3 Limit phone interruptions - Incoming calls or texts can interfere with your interview. To ensure your call isn't interrupted, turn off the call-waiting mode and place your messages on do not disturb mode. 4 Prepare to take notes - Have paper and a pen handy for taking notes. You may need to write down important information about salary expectations, job duties or other facts to evaluate if the job is right for you. 5 Have your application materials available - Keep your resume and cover letter in view so that it is accessible if you need it for reference when answering questions. Check back next Tuesday for part 2, which will cover how to prepare for a phone interview!

#RecruitmentTipTuesday: A quick guide to resume formats 1 Chronological Resume A chronological resume is the most traditional and common format, which lists your work experience in reverse-chronological order. This is a good choice for anyone whose employment history shows a consistent, advancing career path. ... 2 Functional Resume A functional resume focuses more on relevant skills than work history. This is a good choice if you have multiple gaps in employment, are shifting careers with little to no experience in the industry in which you’re applying or if you’re re-entering the workforce after a lengthy break. 3 Combination Resume Combination resumes a blend of the chronological and functional resume types, which allows you to emphasize both your work experience and relevant skills. This is best if you’re making a career transition and you have a diverse employment history or a number of transferable skills that support your qualifications for a role.
