Surprise! We just received 80 doses of flu vaccine in our order (no high dose though). We will start up our vaccinations beginning at noon. No appointment necessary. Bring your mask and pre-filled consent form available online at ida-pharmacy.ca/fluconsent or bring your own pen to complete in-store.

I feel like the flu situation changes by the hour...now looks like we will have 20 doses of regular vaccine (not the seniors' high-dose) tomorrow (Friday) starting at noon. It won't last long so if you can make it in, we will have a few for the lucky first 20!

We are again out of flu vaccine and not likely to get any more this week. I encourage you to call your doctor's office to check on their vaccine status and make an appointment where available. Country Roads is still doing drive through flu clinics by appointment. I will keep you updated as new information becomes available.

We are now out of flu shots for the rest of the week. We are only able to reorder Monday the 26th so please check back with us then. I would like to thank all the staff for working so hard as well as "Ron the nurse" Mearns for his help Monday in administering the over 200 flu shots we gave. His collaboration thanks to Country Roads Community Health Centre made it possible to serve so many. Thanks as well to everyone who came out for your patience and respectful conduct on a rainy day. Truly a community effort. For those who missed it, come on back next week!

As I was at the pharmacy yesterday, I was reflecting on how this year more than any other we are thankful for our health. I am thankful that none of my family, my staff (my work family), my friends, colleagues and anyone in our community was infected by Covid. I am grateful to those new customers who came to us during the pandemic and trusted us to keep them safe and healthy. I continue to be grateful for all our existing customers who support us and worry about us and make all our days worthwhile by allowing us to care for you. I am truly thankful for such a wonderful pharmacy "phamily" and I am happy every day that I came to make Westport my home. I wish everyone continued good health as we navigate the rising Covid cases but do so together. Be well.

Flu 2020 update: Flu shots will be available by October 19th. No appointment necessary! Please drop into our physically distanced environment to obtain your 2020 flu shot. Consent forms are to be completed prior to coming in - no sharing of clipboards and pens in store this year. Sanitizing and masks are required. Or, take advantage of our drive thru service - remain in your car and we'll come to you! The injection area will not be as private as in previous years so please dress appropriately to receive your shot! Please note that we are NOT a testing site. Sites are currently limited to Toronto, Peel and Ottawa regions. Testing in pharmacies is limited to patients with NO symptoms and NO exposure (for example if you need a negative test prior to returning to work or visiting a loved one in a long term care facility). Testing is by appointment only with telephone pre-screening first - no walk ins. Will keep you posted as this new service develops.

Our first cold of the season seems to be upon us but with Covid cases rising in Ontario, you can never be too sure or too careful. Please do not enter the pharmacy if you are experiencing symptoms and especially if you have a fever. Send a friend or use our curbside pickup. Better yet, check your medicine cabinet now and shop for all your cough and cold supplies now that you feel fine then you'll already have them at home for when you don't.

We are receiving many questions about this year's flu season and flu shots. Here is what we know so far: 1) Yes, we will be giving flu shots again this year 2) Timing seems to be like normal - third week of October 3) The high dose 'senior' vaccine is going to be available in the pharmacy this year but we don't yet know what the criteria is for getting it 4) Appointments will not be necessary... Because of Covid and the need for physical distancing, how we set up in the pharmacy and deliver the flu shots will be different. We will keep you posted of our new processes as available.
