We LOVE Christmas Lights! High Country Lodge residents have been touring local Christmas Lights and they have been wonderful! Last week, we toured Black Diamond with Mayor Ruth & Councilor Sharon (they followed the bus in a personal vehicle to keep our seniors safe) and residents judged the lights for the town! An annual tradition! Last night, we drove to Longview and High River! Both have gorgeous displays! Thank you to everyone who has kept the Christmas Spirit going! We appreciate the time and energy that goes into creating these light displays- big and small! Next up... Okotoks!
We are pleased to report that all Sandstone Lodge residents and staff in Okotoks have received COVID-19 testing, and no new cases have been confirmed. Due to our low risk, the residents are able to resume enjoying their meals in the dining room, and have returned to walking in and around the lodge while masked. Our residents are so happy!
Meet Marilyn Taylor, one of our residents at Medicine Tree Manor in High River. Marilyn is 88 years young, and she recently received her certification in the High Five Principles of Healthy Aging, and a certificate of completion from the Physical Culture Association of Alberta’s Enjoyment of Movement program. Marilyn has been running the Sittersize program at Medicine Tree Manor every Monday and Friday, and she also fills in on Tuesdays when needed. Marilyn also voluntee...rs her time within the lodge to support craft sales, through the Helping Hands program, and pretty much wherever she can help. Marilyn is friendly and reliable, and is well liked by staff and residents. Marilyn, you bring joy and light to everyone at Medicine Tree Manor!
High Country Lodge Resident Christmas Party on Saturday Night! It looked a little different this year as we missed having families join us. We had "Light Up High Country Lodge" where we lit up the dining room & tree lights. Followed by a Grinch themed dinner. A generous donor sent us gorgeous afghans which we gave out in a Blanket Draw to any residents who wanted to enter. To end the evening, we had a gift exchange game! EVERYONE went home with something! We hoped to FILL their tummies and their hearts Special thanks to Food Services for the delicious prime rib dinner. And to our staff, who in the absence of volunteers this year, worked late or came in on their time off to help serve and clean up! Thank you!
60th Anniversary Celebration Circa 1982: The Black Diamond Lion’s Club's Senior Citizens’ barbeque was enjoyed by some High Country Lodge residents, on a beautiful August day!
