Thankful that we ALL made it through the camping season Covid FREE Thankful we were able to enjoy small gatherings outdoors; on the water; and around campfires Thankful for the wildlife that entertained, intrigued and delighted us --turtles, frogs, fish, snakes, porcupine, deer, squirrels, mischievous young fox, and of course the many, many beautiful birds. Thankful for the ever-changing variety of wildflowers, and the forest full of brightly coloured autumn leaves albeit a ...sad signal of the end of the camping season. Most of all Thankful for 148 days of sharing Woodland Park with all of you! See more

Answer to yesterday's quiz: "As you may have noticed, it is winter right now, so strawberries aren't in season. Therefore, I have every right to wait at least another 6 months for them to be harvested before you kill me."

Once upon a time, a couple centuries ago, in a cold, harsh winter, three men were about to be executed. It was customary in their land to feed everyone who is about to be executed a last meal, consisting of whatever they want. So, the first man says, "I am an old, poor fellow, and my whole family was vegetarian except for me. Therefore I would like to eat one last chicken before I die". His wish was granted, but right when he finished the last bite, the executioner killed him... on the spot. The second man asks for a pie. "My family is extremely poor, and we have never had the money to buy sweets, or anything of any sort of delicacy. So before I die, I would like the chance to taste a pie, the food I have been dreaming about for years." The executioner agreed, but right when the poor man finished the last piece, he was also killed on the spot. Finally, it was the third man's turn. Without even taking a second to think, he said "I would like some strawberries". The executioner burst out laughing. "I'm sorry", he sputtered, "I just can't understand why you would want to eat STRAWBERRIES of all things right before you die. Out of all the delicious foods you could have picked, why strawberries?" What was the third man's reply which allowed him to live? (Answer will be posted tomorrow.)

QUIZ #2 At a recent jam making contest, four lucky candidates particpated to make the juciest STRAWBERRY JAM. The ages of the Contestants were 14, 17, 20 and 22. As it happens the person who came last was the oldest. Stuart was three years older than the person who came second. James was neither the oldest nor the youngest, and Kev finished ahead of the 17 year old, but didn't win. John was also unlucky this time, and didn't win either. Can you determine who placed first, second, third and last, and how old each is? (Answer will be posted tomorrow)

In consideration of social distancing and group size restrictions currently in place, our Strawberry Social event is cancelled. But we are still thinking of Strawberries and feeling "social" so we gathered some fun strawberry stuff to share over the next few days. https://www.cbc.ca/kidscbc2/the-feed/strawberry-quiz

Today, The Ontario Government has said that parks and campgrounds may open to enable preparation for the season and to allow for trailer and recreational vehicles whose owners have a full season contract. At this time, all social and physical distancing orders are still in place; beaches, shared washrooms, and all other gathering areas are prohibited. We still need final details and approval from our regional Health department before we can open for camping. Stay tuned!
