Our team at the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) has created a new public service announcement (PSA) which is now out to the public this week. Th...is has proven to be highly effective and very low cost. This 30 second spot will be on air from a couple of months and it encourages visitors to enjoy businesses that are open, while being a little slower, to enjoy the pace and the sound of silence. Our team has applied some of the learnings of the Insignia research on perception of Canadians to Indigenous tourism to create this video around wellness, solitude, less crowded spaces and a return to origins. This video will also be airing in French. Double Dragon Aurora! One of the fun things when we see Aurora is to see if we can distinct shapes in Aurora. On this night we were lucky to see double dragon Aurora, very cool! ! Double dragon is very significant in Chinese culture, so we were very blessed to this on this night. Another memorable image we saw was 2 wolves howling, that was pretty cool to see. AMAZING AURORA!! Here are in Yellowknife on most nights the Aurora is right above our heads. In the winter season many of our guests will lie down on the frozen lakes and look up to enjoy the dancing Aurora! For taking photos, we need to adjust our tripods to allow for shots pointing straight up overhead. Most tripods don’t allow this so you have leave one leg shorter than the others to get the camera to point straight up. The Aurora Oval is right over Yellowknife almost ever...y night, very cool! Even though there about 4 billion stars in the night sky, we can only see about 10,000 of them. Most places see much less but with our dark nights and no light pollution we can see up to 10,000 stars here in Yellowknife.
