For pervious episodes, visit https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYThdLKE6TDwBJh-qDC6ICA/. The ice sheets are now following the worst-case climate warming scenarios set out by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Sea-level rise on this scale will have very serious impacts on coastal communities this century. - Thomas Slater, study co-author The science is showing that sea level rise is hitting IPCC worst-case scenarios, or exceeding them. This means that these are not actually worst case scenarios - things can and likely will get even worse. When con...fronted with these staggering facts, and their lethal implications - what does one do? We know dangerous levels of heating are coming, and for many people and ecosystems, the impacts of ecosystem destruction, exploitation, and global warming are already here. But every degree and half-degree matters enormously. Every inch and half inch matters enormously. Every person's life story matters enormously. Can we put aside notions of victory and completion and continue the fight? Can we rebel even though the effort will never be "won"? Can we have a lifelong relationship with breakdown and rebirth while standing up what's right? We hope so. #regenerativerebellion #ActNow #RebelForLife

If you missed our Mass Mobilization talk with UK and Australia rebels on Sunday, a recording of it is now available on our YouTube channel! This talk and workshop included some special guests: 1. Peter Carter, physician, author, and environmental health expert on the emergency we're in... 2. Roger Hallam, one of the co-founders of Extinction Rebellion on the principles and empirics of mobilisation to create the tipping points using civil disobedience 3. Rosa Hicks in Western Australia, and Dolly from UK midlands on case studies for building successful regional organisation infrastructure The land acknowledgement we began with, unfortunately cut off in the recording, is transcribed here: "Here in Vancouver we are on the traditional Coast Salish territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-waututh nations. For thousands of years, these Indigenous nations have lived in harmony and cared for the land, the water and all the furred and winged ones. We acknowledge that our invasion has led to a great deterioration of the beauty and strength of these life communities. We seek to understand how to remedy this disaster by listening with care to our host nations". Note - Roger Hallam has made statements in the past for which he has had to apologize. Extinction Rebellion Vancouver's statement and reflection regarding Roger Hallam's Holocaust remarks is here: https://docs.google.com//1XLGl7b9Z121zE_YkozNdtYEPza4/edit. We chose to invite him to this event taking his apology in good faith. It is our hope and intention that we can learn from his knowledge while recognizing and holding him accountable for the very real ways that his words have caused harm. https://youtu.be/Bd7FZM0kPz8

Indigenous peoples are calling for allies to join them in solidarity in a National Week of Action November 23 - 29. In Vancouver, gather on Monday, 12:00pm at Grandview Park. Action details will be posted in real time. ... The Indigenous people of the land have been under attack ever since the first invaders came to our shores. We have been defending our lands and protecting our waters for generations. We have never stopped and we never will. Our laws demand that we uphold our sacred responsibilities, not only for ourselves, but the next seven generations. Our fight and love for our land and our people connect all Indigenous people. From coast to coast we are united. We must stand in solidarity and defend our relatives that are being attacked by these invaders. Invaders that intend on destroying our land and water for profit and impeding our right to be free people. We are one, we are united, and we will fight, together. #RebelForLife #Actnow #Riseup #solidarity
