Edmonton Clinic of Naturopathic Medicine 21.11.2020

Dear patients/clients, We wanted to update you on our policies around COVID testing and symptoms for you and family members. We are instituting these guidelines to ensure that all of our staff and patients (some who have risk factors and immune issues) remain healthy while in our space. We are setting a high bar for safety, encouraging virtual visits (where possible or required) for those that are at risk and we are grateful for your participation and understanding.... Masks are required inside our clinic space. (Please see our website blog post for the measures our clinic is taking to prevent exposure.) What are some symptoms of COVID? Sore throat, new or different cough, fever, chills, pink-eye, Shortness of breath, rash, discoloured fingers or toes, stomach upset or diarrhea, muscle aches and pains. I have symptoms, can I come into the clinic for my appointment? If you have symptoms, that are new, you will need to stay home and quarantine until you have had 10 days of being symptom free. My partner or someone in my home has some symptoms, I do not have any symptoms, can I come into the clinic? If you have no symptoms, you can come into the clinic IF they have a negative COVID test, or (without a COVID test) after you quarantine for 10 days (and do not have symptoms). I have scheduled a COVID test or am waiting for results (I have symptoms), can I come into the clinic? No. You can come into the clinic when you have a negative COVID test, or when you have been symptom free for 10 days. I am waiting for COVID test results (I do not have symptoms), can I come into the clinic while I am waiting for results? No. If you do not have symptoms, you can come into the clinic once you have a negative COVID test. I am waiting for a family member to get a COVID result because they have symptoms. Can I come into the clinic while I am waiting for these test results? No. You can come into the clinic when they test negative. I have no symptoms, but a family member in my home has tested positive for COVID, can I come into the clinic? No. You will need to quarantine for 14 days from the positive test, and we will welcome you into the clinic after the 14 days is done. I am confused and unsure If I should keep my appointment given my current situation. Please contact the clinic before your appointment and we can help!

MOVEMENT!! (truth and support coming) I am in it. By in it, I mean in it like concrete shoes in it.... Moving my body has always been something that I have mostly done, but I am having some trouble since the big Q... Anyone? Many reasons i suppose... The ability to move our bodies is a limited time opportunity...in most cases it is a "use it or lose it phenomenon". STAY WITH ME HERE... female over 30? Bones are starting to become less dense....female over 40? Muscle mass is starting to decline...female over 50? metabolism is not what it used to be... What changed it for me? A reminder of all of the good that can come from moving your body, (stay tuned) and honestly, knowing how mad I will be at myself that I did not use this time was a motivating factor too... GOOD STUFF: Exercise makes our body more sensitive to our own insulin and thyroid hormones (good for metabolism) Better sleep (also good for metabolism) Stress relief (mmm hmmm metabolism) Releases endorphins (mood support) Studies have shown that: 4 hours per week decreases all kind of causes of untimely death (including death from cancer) Exercise may prevent dementia and Alzheimer's by helping our Hippocampus keep memories and stay malleable, Improves learning and makes our minds sharper Improves spatial memory Here are some apps, streaming services and local spots doing great on-line classes.
