There's a new park coming to 241A and 112 Avenue! Thank you to all who participated in our community consultation survey in October. Participants expressed that the park should be a space for youth in the neighborhood, with amenities for younger children and teens. The top 5 amenities requested by you:... 1. Playgrounds & Swings 2. Walking Pathways 3. Open Lawn Area 4. Picnic Area 5. Basketball/Hockey Court When asked to specify other amenities not listed on the survey, participants most often asked for the following: 1. Water Play 2. Features and design to increase walkability to and from the park 3. Bike Park 4. Safety features to secure the park The next steps for our team will be to develop a park concept plan based on the feedback we've received. Please note that while all requested amenities will be considered, not all can be accommodated in the park plan. Be sure to keep an eye on the project at mapleridge.ca/1441.

Mayor Morden was presented the first poppy from the President of MR Legion Al Casswell on October 27. With poppies pinned over our hearts and November now upon us, we are remembering the sacrifices made by the men and women who have dedicated their lives to serve our nation. Remembrance Day 2020 will look different than in past years. The Royal Canadian Legion office is asking spectators to watch online ceremonies and to remember in place (from home). Maple Ridge Legion Branc...h #88 is developing an online, livestream presentation in place of our in-person parade and gathering in Memorial Peace Park. The broadcasted commemoration from Maple Ridge will be much smaller, with invited guests only. This will help to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and align with the Provincial Health Authority’s guidelines to limit large public gatherings. Changes to this year’s commemoration include: No public event or veteran's parade - please do not gather at Memorial Peace Park Spectators are asked to Remember in Place by staying home and watching the livestream Maple Ridge Legion Branch #88's livestream ceremony starts at 10:45 AM Help show your support to veterans by posting a poppy in your front window of your residence and post a photo to you social media channels using #RememberInPlace and/or #PoppyInTheWindow.
