We hope this message finds you all well and coping with the changes that this pandemic has brought us. It is a very challenging and exceptional time. 100+ Women Who Care Kingston recognizes the need to adapt to these changing times. Our gatherings have been such an important piece for all of us over the past 7 years. Unfortunately, we will not be able to gather in the upcoming months/year, and therefore, the Leading Ladies have made the very difficult and sad decision to clos...e our chapter as we know it today. We feel that we do not have the resources, nor the time, to progress to an online platform with our own personal and family commitments. We are SO grateful for the support, generosity, caring and HOPE that our membership has brought to our organization and community throughout the past 7 years. We truly created a special community and wrapped our arms around Kingston in a way that no others have. Through giving, we have learned about the needs of others and of the hard work, perseverance and passion that our Kingston non-profit organizations commit to everyday to make this a better place for all. It is our hope that new giving circles or charitable groups will evolve in the spirit of 100+ Women with renewed passion. We will happily help promote future giving in our community as everyone navigates this new world. We must thank our very generous sponsors who made these meetings possible: Elia Anagnostopoulos at the Harbour Restaurant for allowing us the space to gather, Leanne Moran and Cara Chesney from MNP LLP for very generously donating to our organization since the very beginning, and finally, Mike Salmon, from L&A Mutual Insurance who sponsored our quarterly meetings for the last 2 years. We are so thankful and proud of your community support. We also owe a HUGE thank you to Tiffany Richards and her incredible photography skills for capturing so many incredible moments. Tiff, we could not have done it without you. Please see the video she created for all of you!! We are happy to guide, brainstorm and mentor anyone wanting to create a giving circle or even take 100+ Women to an online platform. Please email me at [email protected] for more information. Please continue to seek out and learn more about the needs in our incredible community. The needs are especially increased at this difficult time for so many. Please continue to give back when you can and remember our original purpose that drove us: Together, Supporting Community. https://spark.adobe.com/video/jQMnpQjyz9mzs

St. Vincent de Paul, or affectionally known as "Vinnies", creates a loving, caring and supportive community for so many of our Kingston residents. Before our current social isolation, SVDP offered not only a hot lunch program, an emergency pantry service and a WEARhouse for much needed items, all free of charge, but the offered the support of community. Feeling a part of a community or a neighbourhood was their main goal, all done with compassion and care. Currently, SVDP offers a bagged lunch program and emergency pantry needs all while keeping an eye on their clients from afar. Anyone needing clothing or household items can also be accommodated by appointment only. Please consider donating to this very worthwhile charity at www.svdpkingston.com Vincent De Paul Kingston

This organization gives out a free Meal to Go package at dinner time to help meet the basic needs of many within our community. Lionhearts Inc. is now providing over 700 meals/day, 7 days a wee...k, in 4 different locations. On May 10th, they surpassed 20,000 donated meals. These meals are a package that include: a well balanced dinner, a loaf of bread, a sweet treat, oatmeal, water and utensils. The Make a Break Scholarship fund is a fund that former LCVI and KCVI students (plus future KSS students) can apply to after graduation from a post-secondary program to help pay down their student debt. In doing this, they will be able to use their education to move further from poverty by mitigating the large debt that often comes with post-secondary education. Unlike a regular scholarship which comes before a student's education, this fund is a reverse scholarship which will come at the end of a successful educational program. Recipients of this fund must meet certain criteria and are selected on a case by case basis. Thank you Tamiko Ferguson & team, as well as Catherine Dudley & team, for nominating this charity.
