UPDATE! We are excited and humbled to announce that you have donated a total of $9,675 to Helping Hands! This was our first online campaign, and we consider this a success! Thank you all for your outstanding generosity and your support for this deserving group. ... It is with great excitement and anticipation that we announce the winner of the membership vote. We have voted to support the St. Paul's Food Bag Programme in our next campaign. This tiny, registered charity provides food bags every two weeks to our neighbours in need. The programme is largely funded by the parishoners themselves, who provide an average of 40 bags of food every two weeks. Thank you for participating wholeheartedly in the voting procedure. We are proposing that we would launch the campaign for St. Paul's in February 2021, and expect it will again be an online campaign. We will be in touch in 2021! Please accept our warmest wishes for a beautiful, healthy holiday season, and a healthy, safe 2021. Kindest regards, Tracey Fyfe, Sandra Hollingsworth, Gabrielle Louttit, Toni Lukenda & Marnie Stone

Dear friends! We hope you and your families are well. As you know, together we are currently raising funds for Helping Hands SSM. ... We are excited that so many of you have generously donated. We had intended to end the campaign for Helping Hands and to announce the next group on November 20th. However, we were reminded that pre-pandemic, our members typically had more time to organize your donations. We are therefore delighted to extend the campaign for Helping Hands, to November 30th. You can donate online through GoFundMe, or by mailing or dropping off your donation to Stone's Office Supply at 529 Queen St. East, or to Helping Hands at 146 Gore Street. And a reminder! Please don't forget to vote for the next group - here is the eligible charity list: https://www.100womenwhocaressm.com/eligible-groups Given the pandemic, we have modified the voting procedure. We ask that you vote individually (no teams right now). For every $20 you donate to Helping Hands, your chosen group will receive one vote, i.e., if you donate $20, your chosen group will receive one vote, if you donate $100, your chosen group will receive five votes. Please enclose a note with any donation you mail or drop off, and/or email us here. The group which receives the most votes overall wins! We will announce the total raised for Helping Hands and the winning group on Friday, December 4. Good luck to all our groups!

We hope that you and your loved ones are well and healthy during these difficult times. We miss seeing your smiling faces at our meetings! At our last meeting, we voted to support SSM Helping Hands.... They are certainly a worthy recipient. They have been busy helping many in our community throughout the pandemic, and like so many others, Helping Hands has experienced a new challenging environment due to COVID 19. Given the current circumstances, we cannot meet as we would normally. So we will be supporting Helping Hands online! 100+ Women Who Care will be supporting Helping Hands by donation here through GoFundMe : https://gf.me/u/yvtjs7 (use this link to ensure your donation registers through 100+ Women.) If you would like to pay by cheque, you are able to drop off your donation at Stone's Office Supply. We can also arrange pick up for donations if needed! For now, we propose a modified voting procedure. We ask that you would please vote individually. For every $20 you donate to Helping Hands, the group that you have chosen will receive one vote. The group which receives the most votes overall wins! You are able to vote: by comment when you donate on GoFundMe, by emailing us, or by direct message to us on Facebook. See our list of eligible charities for your vote here: https://www.100womenwhocaressm.com/eligible-groups We will announce the total raised, and the winning group on November 20th! We will return to our usual meeting process once it is safe to do so. At this time, we believe that this will be a safe and fair way for us continue to support local charities and not-for-profit organizations as a membership. In the meantime, take good care, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts to yours!

Happy Thursday everyone! We are humbled to announce that the women of our community have donated more than $200,000 through 100+ Women Who Care SSM to help our neighbours. $202,440 to be exact. ... Why is the total higher than the figure in the lovely photo below, taken at our last event on Nov 26th? Because you incredible women know it is never too late to donate, and the cheques and cash have continued to come in! For example, as a result of our event on November 26, together you have donated $11,510 for the THRIVE Foundation's Family Assistance Fund! And a whopping $14,552 has been donated to the amazing Twinkie Foundation by the equally amazing women in our community! If you missed either event, you can drop cash/cheques to Marnie at Stone's on Queen, or email us at [email protected] and we can pick up your donation. And please mark your calendars for our next meeting on Feb 4, 2020 at the Water Tower Inn in support of the Algoma Autism Foundation! This will be a Bon Soo event, so break out your red and white. Snowballs optional. :) RSVP/get info at [email protected] or 100womenwhocaressm.com. Special thanks to our wonderful photographer Carole Stubinsky who donates her time and talent to immortalize our events! :)

Friends, please consider donating to support the Algoma Autism Foundation, a very small, local organization whose volunteers provide essential services for many in our community. The rates of autism locally are double the national and provincial rates; government and other agencies have not been able to keep pace with the needs. AAF provides social, recreational and educational opportunities for many children and youth in our community. They also put on Sensitive Santa, and ...offer sensitive trick or treating (Trunk or Treat), and other events tailored to children and youth who might not otherwise be able to participate in these events. AAF has also donated dozens of communication devices and special needs trampolines to both main school boards, and dozens of RF beacon bracelets to Sault Search and Rescue. These bracelets are lifesaving devices, meaning someone who is non-verbal and who wanders/is a flight risk can be found in minutes. AAF also organizes educational events, and social events for parents as well. Bonus -- this event will be during Bon Soo, and might feature a certain rotund local celebrity! Wear your best red and white! Please share this event widely, and help make our first event of 2020 a night to remember!
