100 Worlds Preschool 19.11.2020

Attention Kindergarten parents! At 100 Worlds Preschool we are looking to run a three afternoons a week Kindergarten class this year. We will be following the Alberta Kindergarten Curriculum. Our class size would have a maximum of 15 students and every thing in the classroom is sanitized after every class. We are hoping to accommodate parents who are looking to have their child is a smaller environment during this time of Covid. We are a Reggio inspired school and we would be happy to tell you more about our program. We are currently seeing whether or not there is enough interest before we move forward. If this is something that would interest you, let us know below or send us a message :)

Today was day four of The Play Summit and I am not joking when I say all three of us were on the verge of tears. As an Early Childhood Educator you have magic moments that change you and your practice and today Wendy Lee gave us one of those moments. Her presentation has completely transformed how we will be doing documentation this year and we can’t wait for our families to see the difference. What magical moments have you had this summer with your family? #connection #playmatters #airdrie #airdriefamily

Today was another phenomenal day at The Play First Summit. Our staff got so deep into discussion today that we missed an entire presentation! We will catch up on it :) Today’s speakers included Janet Lansbury, Peter Gray, Ijumma Jordan, and Marghanita Hughes. All of these speakers really align with our philosophy that children are capable of leading their own education. It is our job to cultivate an environment that is conducive to joyous learning opportunities! Fill in th...is blank for us: When you give children free time ______________ happens. Day Two of The Play First Summit was so inspiring! Today we got to hear from Teacher Tom, Lenore Skenazy, Maggie Dent, and Kisha Reid. These four sparked so many deep conversations among our staff about how we can make our program even better. Our favourite quote from the day was Teachers need to use their power to empower. We spent a lot of time discussing how we can truly empower each individual child in our classroom community. We can’t wait to start sharing these plans with you over the next few weeks. #playmatters #guardiansofchildhood @theteachertom @maggiedentauthor @letgroworg @discoveryelc @fairydustteaching

Miss Shelley, Miss Marie, and I virtually attended the first day of the Play First Summit, which is an amazing early childhood education conference. Today we got to hear from four incredible speakers (Lisa Murphy, John Yiannoudis, Lynette Arthur and Suzanne Axelsson). The topics for this year‘s conference revolve around maintaining best practice and honouring children in the time of COVID-19. We learned so much today and we can’t wait to put some of these ideas into practic...e. We have said from the beginning that we will not reopen our program unless we can do so in a developmentally appropriate way that meets the needs of the whole child. Lisa Murphy’s talk gave us an extra boost of confidence to make sure that we are taking the advice from medical experts and then combining it with our expertise in early childhood development. We are so excited to have everyone back at school in September and we will continue to be fierce advocates for young children. Reminder to our registered families to please add classdojo. We will be starting to have a dialogue with parents in the upcoming weeks. You have been emailed the classdojo access code :) #playfirstsummit2020 #ooeygooeylady #playmatters
