Happy Friday! It's Garbage/Recycle Day #5 in the Juniper, Southwood and the Burntwood Trailer Court areas. It's always fun to think back to your childhood and remember all the great toys, snacks, and even clothes that you loved. Just to realize that they don't exist anymore. ? I remember we use to get a Jello called "Jello 1-2-3" it was the best dessert we had when we were kids. It had 3 la...yers of jello in 1 bowl. I remember making it with my mom. I remember when McDonalds had pizza, and that was the biggest treat I could have gotten at that time in my life. The one item I always loved and miss is the Skip-it, I held the high score on those in grade 6. So many memories. ~Karl https://www.workandmoney.com/s/most-missed-discontinued-pro

Happy Thursday! It's Garbage/Recycle Day #4 in the Eastwood area. Random acts of kindness without expectations of payment feels great. Like shovelling someones sidewalk or even paying for the coffee of the person in drive thru behind you. It can make their day better and if they "pay it forward" your initial kindness can be passed along to so many people improving their days as well. " "? ... ? Yesterday I noticed a vehicle had broken down at the intersection across the street from the station, after a few vehicles passed by him without checking on him, I went over and offered a tow off the road. After I got him to a safe parking lot, he wanted to pay me, I declined and just told him to pay it forward and help someone else in need. It improved my mood knowing I helped someone and that it will be passed along to another. ~Karl See more

Happy Wednesday! It's Garbage/Recycle Day #3 in the Riverside and Deerwood Areas. Today is Stress Awareness Day. Obviously Covid-19 has been causing stress in all of our lives. But we have other stressors that need to be dealt with. Today is the perfect day to take the opportunity to identify and remove the stress from your life. ? (, , )... ' ? (, , .) Personally I keep stressing over money (which I think everyone worries about) and I stress about the future. I know I can't predict the future, and that I should live in the present, but I worry about where life is going to take me and how I'm going to get there. Luckily I'm able to deal with my stress by talking with some great friends and family, I also get out for walks and hikes with my dog which helps quite a bit. When that doesn't work, I make breads and desserts. ~Karl See more

Good Morning, It's Garbage/Recycle Day #2 in the Burntwood Area. We all have been inspired by someone to at least try a new hobby or even job. Some of that inspiration comes from TV shows or movies. Like maybe Bob Ross inspired you to try painting, or Martha Stewart inspired you to try cooking. / ? I loved watching Survivorman when it first came out, it encouraged me to get out and learn ...about the outdoors and some survival skills, I'm glad I did, they have come in handy at different times. I've also tried my hand at shaping rocks & stones because of the main character in Shawshank Redemption. 2 of my friends back in Alberta have taken up learning Chess because they have been watching Queens Gambit on TV and my cousin in California took up skateboarding cause he watched the X-Games on TV, turns out he is pretty good. ~Karl See more

Happy Monday! It's Garbage/Recycle Day #1 in the Westwood area. We all have those projects that have been started like small repairs, knitting/sewing, decorating, or even writing stories. But we have either never been completed them or it was a struggle to finish. ? ? "" ?... Over the weekend I had grand plans to do a large project in my garage, I started it, got about halfway thru it and lost all motivation to finish the project. I got cold, and tired and just didn't feel like continuing. Luckily it isn't taking up any extra space in my garage. I still have about 5 small projects on the go, I do a little here and there till they are all done. Takes about 5 times longer doing it this way, but I don't get as frustrated. ~Karl See more

Is the Nightmare Before Christmas a Halloween or Christmas film? To get my girlfriend & I in the Halloween spirit, we watched the Nightmare Before Christmas which left me wondering if this film is meant for one holiday or the other. Personally I think it's meant for Halloween rather than Christmas due to so much time spent in Halloween Town. Am I wrong? Tell me why in the comments! - Max

The Province of Manitoba has not declared trick-or-treating to be officially cancelled this year, but that doesn't mean you don't need to play safely this Halloween. Here is the latest guidance from the Province of Manitoba, on how to stay safe and enjoy the day.

Happy Friday! It's Garbage/Recycle Day #5 in the Juniper, Southwood and Burntwood Trailer Court areas. Tomorrow is Halloween! We have all been getting in the spooky mood this week with decorations, costumes, candy, and MUSIC. ? ' ?... To me it's not a real 'holiday' or special day until I hear music related to the day. There are a few songs that come to mind that could be Halloween songs but weren't originally meant for the holiday, like The Who's "Clap for the Wolfman", The Eagles "Witchy Woman" or even Iggy Azalea "Black Widow". Today and tomorrow we will be playing some of your favourite Halloween songs like the Monster Mash, Ghostbusters and Thriller. But we are adding some new ones we haven't played before, some you may have never heard, and even some songs you wouldn't have thought that could be Halloween songs. ~Karl See more

Good Morning, It's Garbage/Recycle Day #4 in the Eastwood Area. With Halloween just around the corner, many people are deciding NOT to go trick-or-treating. Instead, they are planning on driving their kids around to look at all the spooky decorations while staying warm, safely distanced, and even making it a game. (get a piece of candy for every ghost, spider or witch you see and point out) ? ... ! I love Halloween and the decorations that come with it, so I went for a drive last night around a few areas in the Riverside, Westwood and Juniper areas and saw some amazing decorations. I feel like I missed some masterpieces around town. Where are all the spooky houses at? ~Karl See more
