Nominations for the Liberal Party for the District of St. John's East-Quidi Vidi close tomorrow (Sunday). I am looking forward to having the opportunity to represent this District in the House of Assembly. To do so I need the support of Liberals and supporters residing in the District. Tomorrow afternoon, December 13th, I will be at the Battery Cafe from 3:00 -5:00 pm, and I invite anyone from the District to drop-by to meet me and enjoy a free coffee. Of course, COVID rules apply. https://www.batterycafe.ca/ Also, please visit my website www.Johnabbottnl.ca to learn more about me and my position on key issues facing the province. And, while you are in the downtown area, take some time to support our many wonderful local businesses on Duckworth and Water Streets. I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can.

An email I sent to all Liberals in the District of St. John's East Quidi-Vidi yesterday: My name is John Abbott and I am seeking the nomination to be the Liberal candidate for the District of St. John's East-Quidi Vidi in the next provincial election. It would be my honour to represent this great district in the House of Assembly - the district in which I grew up along with my nine brothers and sisters and wonderful parents, William and Angela Abbott, in our family home on Po...rtugal Cove Road. This is where I played as a boy, went to school, and spent most of my adult life. But first, I need your help to secure the nomination. I need you to cast your vote for me. Early this year, I entered the Liberal Leadership race because I could no longer sit by while the province faced its most difficult challenges since Confederation. I know that with my vast experience and expertise in government, I could make a strong and positive difference. I was extremely encouraged by the amount of support I received and by the warm reception given to me and my message by people from all parts of the province. My message was simple - we must put the province ahead of politics. We must put partisan politics aside and work together in the best interest of the province. The status quo is unacceptable as we fight for the survival of this province. As a former senior executive in the public service who has served six premiers, I know what is needed to get us through these tough times. Government must act now and make the right decisions to address the economic and financial crises that lay before us. Having the right people making the right decisions has never been more important. Please help me to assist the government led by Premier Furey and the people of this province. Visit my website www.johnabbottnl.ca and follow me on Facebook and Twitter. Reach out to me with your questions and concerns. I want to hear from you. The timing and location of the voting will be announced after the nominations close this Sunday. A member of my team will be in contact with you to inform you of the date and time when you can come out to vote. Voting is in-person only, so please wear your mask to the voting station, distance yourself from others, and sanitize your hands often. I want your vote but, more importantly, I want you to be safe. If you require transportation to and from the voting station, please advise the person who will be in contact with you, and we will look after your request. Thank you.
