Here’s a shout out to the whole staff of Cinecenta who supported our 10th Film Week: Lisa Sheppard, manager (at left, first picture), Michael Hoppe, former programmer (right), and Amy Anderson, new programmer (center), as well as supervisors, cashiers, projectionists and Munchie Bar personnel. We are grateful for their help night in and night out. Michael Hoppe, with whom we have worked for the past 10 years, just retired, so our very best wishes for him: thank you, Michael! And welcome Amy, we look forward to working with you next year.
A big thank you to all who attended and supported our 10th Latin American and Spanish Film Week which wrapped up yesterday. We are encouraged by the response of the community and we look forward to keep bringing excellent films to Victoria in 2020. We will be posting a few pictures of the event in the days ahead.
Thanks to all who attended yesterday our Peruvian feature film, La ultima tarde, a wrenching story of personal/political drama. Our Film Week wraps up today with a political thriller, El reino, The Realm, which was awarded many Goyas in Spain's most prestigious film competition. Shows at 7 and 9:15 PM.
What a wonderful party we had yesterday at Vertigo after the screening of Indestructible - the soul of salsa. Such a nice way to celebrate our ten years. Thanks to all who attended (we are sure you had a good time!), and especially to piano player Pablo Cardenas and his band, the West Coast Cuban All Stars: such an amazing group of players who delighted everyone with their salsa, cumbia and more.
