We've been chipping away at this project for nearly 3 months and the scope creep has been real. A story pole is essentially a plumbed piece of straight lumber that allows you to layout and capture critical measurements concerning grade. Footing locations, post and beam and landing heights, location for stringer terminations; all of these were calculated and laid out before any physical work was actually done. We always come across situations where there's a gray area between the beginning and end of a project scope, and where the old meets the new. Here, an outdated electrical panel was just in the way; in the way of a poorly done drop ceiling, in the way of a window, in the way of the wall we were building and in the way of the millwork we were putting in.
