Player, coach, director, and now Chair of the Board, Cam Rubel has spent his fair share of years with the KMHA crest on his jacket. His early years were made possible by the love and support of his mother Leslie Holmes and late father Dave Rubel. Cam continued in the rep stream until he moved away in his senior years at Norkam Secondary to try out for Junior A and Junior B teams in Alberta and BC. Unsuccessful with securing a long term spot he returned back to KMHA to finish ...out his minor hockey career. After Cam's son Logan was born in 2007 he was excited with the possibility to have a child in the sport that he would be able to volunteer in to give back for his years of playing. Logan is going into his first year of Bantam and Cam has yet to miss a year behind the bench with every recreation team Logan has played on since he started 8 years ago. In parallel with coaching, Cam started to get involved with the KMHA Board and recently assumed the roll of Chair of the Board from long term president and mentor Jon Pankuch. With the support of an amazing staff and fellow board members Cam has enjoyed every aspect of being a part of such a great organization. Thank you for all that you do, Cam!

Happy Throwback Thursday! Here is a photo of our very own Rob Fryer lining a game at the Air Canada Pacific Cup back in 1996. Rob has been officiating for 36 years now and this tournament was one of the highlights of his officiating career! He started officiating when he was about 12 to get extra ice time as he loved to skate. He got his start in 100 Mile House and although he is a little slower now he still has a great passion for the game! Rob has been involved with KMHA since 1994 and served as Referee in Chief for KMHA for 5 years, from 2003- 2008. He now enjoys coaching U13 as his son plays the game. Rob's son is also starting to officiate this year! Rob is an excellent addition to our board of directors. Thanks for the photo Rob!

Hello KMHA Members, We are writing this message to advise you that KMHA has inquired with the City of Kamloops about opening up arenas to more than 50 participants so that parents can watch their kids play hockey. The response we have received back to date is that the City is working on ways to expand within the guidelines set out by the Provincial Government. Until we get the go ahead to allow spectators in the arenas, no spectators will be permitted for U11 Divisions and u...p, recreation and rep hockey inclusive. We also wanted to advise you that this is not Kamloops Minor Hockey setting the restriction nor is it only happening in Kamloops. All Associations that surround us are also mandated to the 50 person maximum, with no spectators present. We are all in this together as Dr. Bonnie Henry would say. The solution is that teams are allowed to live stream their games with home team and away team permission. Once the game is completed the stream must be deleted. Your manager and coach will be looking into ways for you to watch the game through live streaming. In the meantime, we will continue to work with the City of Kamloops in hopes they increase the numbers of people in the arenas. However as hopeful as we are that this might happen, we need to be realistic that with Covid cases increasing in our province this might take some time. Yes we are allowing parents in the arenas for our U7 and U9 players, but that is because they need support. In order to do so, the number of participants has dropped as will the way they play hockey. They must still follow the guidelines of 50 people in the arena. We have heard it for months that this is not a typical year and you are likely noticing this to be true. Players, coaches, team officials and parents of U7 and U9 players must wear masks at all times while in any City of Kamloops Arena, other than the ice surface. Thank you for your patience.

Effective immediately MASKS must be worn at all times, by all KMHA patrons while in the City of Kamloops Arenas, other than on the ice surface. Thank you for your cooperation.
