Although we are unable to gather this year, we can still honour our veterans and remember the sacrifice of the fallen. In these unprecedented times, we can take courage from their example. #lestweforget The Virtual Remembrance Day Ceremony can be viewed on the Royal Canadian Legion's Facebook page, or watched live on the CBC at 1000 hrs. https://m.facebook.com/CanadianLegion/
Throwback to 1960 and a new recruit being sworn in. Know anyone who wants to join cadets? Be sure to tell them about the new online recruiting portal, which will put them in touch with squadron or corps near them. https://www.canada.ca//cadets-junior-c/cadets/join-us.html
Wings Wednesdays The CT-155 Hawk is used to train pilots for front-line fighter aircraft. With its superior technology, this jet can perform a wide range of high-performance training missions. The Hawk’s cockpit features a heads-up display, hands-on throttle and stick controls as well as integrated navigation and targeting systems.
Do you know someone who wants to join cadets? We are proud to introduce a new Online Registration Tool to make the registration process easier to join cadets! Parents/guardians and prospective cadets can now visit our website at www.canada.ca/join-cadets to receive information to help them start the registration process. The tool will gather their contact information as well as the unit they are interested in joining and forward it to the corps/squadrons’ generic mailbox. Corps and squadrons will then be able to contact the parent/guardian to answer any questions and arrange for the completion of the registration process.
On July 31, the City of Toronto announced the Family Well-Being Plan, which has been developed in partnership with community agencies and social service providers, to highlight the supports available to those who may be experiencing family violence during the pandemic. Throughout this pandemic, people have been spending more time at home, than ever before. For some, this can feel especially isolating and challenging, when the environment in their home is unsafe. No child, youth or family in the city should feel alone and helpless. By connecting with one of the service providers, residents can receive critical support, such as counselling, emotional assistance, safety planning, information and referrals free of charge.
