LOCATED SAFE! Missing Person Ottawa Police is asking for assistance in locating Sophie GALIPEAU. She was last seen at 3pm on October 10, 2020 in the area of Parkdale Avenue and Scott Street.... She is described as a white female, late 40s, approximately 4’9, heavy build with shoulder length brown hair in a ponytail and wearing a grey rain coat with hood, black pants and black shoes. Anyone with information is asked to call the Ottawa Police Missing Persons Unit at 613-236-1222. Ext 2355

WORKING FIRE UPDATE On the morning of October 10, 2020 at 6:45am, Ottawa Fire Dispatch received a call for a kitchen fire at 17:05 Lamoureux Drive in Orleans. Firefighters declared a working fire upon arrival and the blaze was brought under control by 7:01am and a loss stopped was called in 5 minutes later at 7:06am.... One person was treated on scene by Ottawa Paramedics for minor smoke inhalation. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

BODY LOCATED : Cornwall Police are investigating after human remains were located on Oct 10, 2020 just before noon. Cornwall Police responded to a wooded area just north of Tollgate Rd, between Brookdale Ave & Pitt St, following reports that a body had been discovered. Police say the investigation is still currently in the early stages and the identity of the victim has yet to be determined.... Cornwall Police say there is no threat to public safety. WORKING FIRE UPDATE Just before 8pm on October 8, 2020, Ottawa Fire Services received a 911 call reporting smoke and flames visible from the home at 2039 Dovercourt Ave. Upon arrival at 7:55pm, fire crews confirmed a working fire with smoke and flames coming from above the door of the two-storey home. Firefighters confirmed all occupants had safely evacuated the home before quickly extinguishing the main body of the fire at the rear wall. There were no reported injuries.... The blaze had extended into the structure of the roof and walls, but once extinguished, the fire was declared under control at 8:57pm. Two residents have been displaced by the fire and a Fire Investigator has been dispatched to determine the cause of the blaze. WORKING FIRE UPDATE At 7:24am on October 8, 2020, Ottawa Fire dispatch received a 911 call from a resident reporting a fire in their basement. Fire crews responded to a residence at 2 Oxford St. Upon arrival on scene at 7:28am, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the home. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the heavy flames in the basement of the home, however, the fire extended through the stairs and interior wall of the structu...re causing damages to the attached home at 4 Oxford St. The fire was declared under control at 8:13am. Crews remained on scene to ventilate smoke from the homes and to check for further extensions. A loss stopped was declared at 8:43am. One person was treated by paramedics on scene and two families are displaced by this fire. The cause of the blaze is under investigation. SIU Investigation The investigation by the Ontario Special Investigations Unit into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 23 year old man on the morning of October 7th, 2020. Around 9am, Ottawa Police officers attended an apartment building on the 2000 block of Jasmine Crescent to execute a search warrant. Upon entry to a 12th floor unit, a 23 year old man fell from the window. The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time.... The SIU has identified two Ottawa Police officers as witness officers, while no officer has been named the subject of the investigation at this time. Three investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to this incident. The Special Investigations Unit of Ontario is investigating and asking if anyone has any information in regards to this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. They are also requesting anyone with video evidence to upload it to the SIU website. The Special Investigations Unit is an independent civilian agency that is used to investigate incidents involving police where death, serious injury or sexual assault allegations have resulted. The Director of the unit must take into consideration if an officer committed an offence in connection to the investigation, lay a charge against the police officer or close the file and report the results to the Attorney General under the Police Services Act. At present time, three investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to this case.
