Kyon Kennels 25.11.2020

After a tough weekend for our sweet heart- when she eventually clearly told us that she had had enough - we honoured her wish and made the difficult decision to let our darling and 'oh-so-brave' PEARL ( Am/ UKC/Can CH Kyon's Arcticridge Satin Pearl ,Am. CGC) go this morning... well into her 13th year . I hope Pearl has met up with her previous owner , my good friend Brenda Solomon, who loved our sweet Pearl as much as we did... and who always kept in touch for as long as ...Brenda lived ; celebrating with us Pearl's many successful adventures . As Brenda told us when Pearl returned to us : "Pearl was the last of my Buhunds and she was the hardest to say goodbye to. I loved her so much and I still cry when thinking of her.... " But then today it was our turn to cry here at Kyon ; while we said our goodbyes to our darling girl.... Sweetness personified -and courage exemplified- Pearl was simply the very BEST dog ever.... and so today our life seems so very empty without our darling girl's kind and loyal presence , at our side. But we honoured your wish Pearl : and today you just quietly sighed once- being quite content to go- while Karin was at your side, stroking your face as you passed. We are so very grateful to Dr Penny Rowland for coming out and letting our sweet Pearl have the gentlest, kindest passing possible - surrounded by love. Pearl is buried here at our property- where she so loved to roam , run and play. In our mind we imagine her being strong and athletic once again.... and finally having no more pain . See more

Our girls all live a full and very active life at Kyon , having the opportunity of running free through our hundreds of acres of fields - swimming in our ponds -raising beautiful puppies -and being calming and active buddies for our many boarding clients . But when retired from 'maternal duties' they sometimes then leave our home- and move to become a beloved family pet . As terribly hard as it is for us to say goodbye it is also a rewarding experience- specially since w...e get the chance to follow our girls as they blossom in their new lives..... One such girl is GLORY ( Kyon's Glory Days , pedigree https://www.k9data.com/pedigree.asp?ID=516283 ) who in fact also has turned out to be a phenomenal influence on our lines- especially through her son Parker ( ch Kyon's can't get no satisfaction). We are so very happy to report that sweet Glory is living a wonderful life with her owner Karon Hunt , who has trained Glory to be marvellous service dog. Glory goes everywhere with Karon- to the stores, to church , to nursing homes , takes part in Santa Claus parades- goes to car rallies - to Tim Hortons - and she is loyally sitting at Karon's side in her role as crossing guard, where Glory indeed is "in her glory" ; loving all the little children that she meets. In fact Glory's kind nurturing nature is known and appreciated throughout all of the little town in Ontario ( Paris) where she now resides... Known by all -and welcomed everywhere - Glory is simply having a marvellous life. :-) Our deep thanks go out to Karon Hunt for making sure our wonderful Glory has such a rich and rewarding life. we are so proud of you both. <3 . Happy 10th birthday darling Glory girl , from all of us at Kyon ! See more

Please keep our darling PEARL in your thoughts and prayers : she is just not feeling the greatest these days... and we are a bit worried ... Our grand old lady has defeated so many odds since her accident- at 8 years of age -when she was accidentally ploughed into by one of our youngsters, while they were all running full speed in the field- and as a result Pearl severely dislocated a disc in her neck , which caused instant rear paralyzation . However with some prednisone, ...acupuncture and chinese herbs - plus gentle chiropractic adjustments- she did get to her feet - and she has mostly been sound since - except for the odd "limpy day" - that is until 10 days ago, when she accidentally slipped on our tile floor and again went down... We kept her comfortable on a bed of straw and treated her again with prednisone and she is now finally walking around and about again - however the recovery is slower this time - given her advanced age ( now in her 13th year)... she is also not eating as well as we would like .... and we think she just needs some extra positive energy from all of you as you think about /pray for our sweetheart. This super special girl ; RANI, has just had her 8th birthday and we take this opportunity to truly celebrate her.... and all that she does as a wonderful service dog for her talented trainer/ owner Patty Aquirre . At Kyon we do not only rejoice when our dogs win in the ring, or at trials , but we are also so happy when we know a dog does such an important job as being an invaluable service dog <3 . Rani is also rather famous through her many extraordinary fishing skills. you can follow this incredible Kyon golden Retriever on : "Rani The Service Dog Who Would Rather Be Fishing" ..... https://www.facebook.com/RaniFisherdog/
