Spicer Facilitation & Learning 20.10.2020

This week at Spicer Facilitation & Learning! Many of you know how much #ilovewhatido. Thought I would give you a glimpse of my week so you can really appreciate why. I helped three entrepreneurs this week by providing my time and talent to help them with adjusting their businesses in COVID-19 times. I am truly impressed by the resilience of entrepreneurs who are adapting, pivoting, changing and morphing their processes and service offerings to remain relevant and viable i...n such uncertain times. I delivered a 2-part workshop to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada in Montreal and Ottawa on behalf of Citizen First l Citoyens en tête. We ran in to a wide range of unexpected technical issues in our first part. My client and I felt it was best to shift to a completely different platform for part two. Our participants were absolutely amazing with the adjustments on the fly! And they were so engaged it made the delivery an absolute delight for me. I received sign-off on the completion of a 3-year strategic plan for my client the NL Federation of Agriculture. A lot of hard work, discussion, and stakeholder input went in to the development of a relevant plan to move the Federation forward. Many thanks to my client for trusting in the public engagement processes I used to gain such valuable input. I signed a contract with the Department of Immigration, Skills and Labour to receive funding under the Canada Job Grants - NL program to take some professional development training in January. I met with a new client to explore the possibility of a strategic planning session in St. John's in November. I started curriculum development of two new workshops Harassment and Bullying, and Respectful Workplace for my first in-person delivery since February next month in Corner Brook. Thank you to Connie for nominating my business in a contest as I am receiving a free website audit from Rogue Penguin Creative! I can't wait to see the results. Created and scheduled my November newsletter to come out Sunday morning. On the self-care front I went swimming, attended my weekly yoga class, got my flu shot, participated in a book club and meditation session, booked my routine mammogram in December, and added steps to the #10000stepsnl challenge for epilepsy awareness. I know the life of an entrepreneur is not for everyone but I can honestly say I am loving my experience. I am blessed with great clients. I have amazing support at home from my husband who listens to me on endless virtual sessions or telephone calls. And he brings me my midday glass of Coca-Cola if I am stuck in a session! Wishing everyone a safe, healthy and happy Hallowe'en and a wonderful weekend. #spicerfacilitation #makingiteasyforyoutobesuccessful #thelifeofanentrepreneur

Certification Notice Today marks 6 years since I earned my Certified Service Manager (CSM) certification from Citizen First l Citoyens en tête. Since I started my business I am pleased to have continued my relationship with them as we have a partnership in place to deliver public sector service workshops based on their research and the Certified Service Manager Body of Knowledge (CMSBoK). To date I have delivered workshops to employees of the Governments of Yukon, British Columbia and Nunavut, and Government of Canada employees in the Office of Veterans Ombudsman, Transport Canada, Veterans Affairs, and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Shown is the work of one of my classes in The Effective Service Delivery Manager workshop. #serviceexcellence #publicsector

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the Entrepreneur Ecosystem Coffee Break sponsored by Navigate Small Business this morning! A great way to celebrate BDC's Small Business Week 2020. Lots of fabulous information shared by our ecosystem entrepreneur supporters Scotiabank, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Futurpreneur Canada, NL Workforce Innovation Centre, RDÉE TNL and NRC IRAP. Without you folks encouraging us, inspiring... us, guiding us and providing funding programs we wouldn't be where we are! It is so inspiring to hear from entrepreneurs about how they are adjusting, pivoting, rebranding, rethinking, and adapting to the realities of COVID-19. So many exciting things are happening at Robbins Family Farm & Gardens, Yes B'y Beading, Alison Butler Consulting, Carma Yoga with Carmelita Morgan and Cash is King, NL! We also heard from aspiring entrepreneurs in various stages of their startups. I am so proud of the community of practice for entrepreneurs that we are developing online. It's a great way for all of us to learn from one another and most importantly to support one another. As many of you know, relationships are one of my core values in how I conduct myself and my business. I am proud to have so many of you in my network. This #sbw2020 I set myself a goal to meet new people and I did! #spicerfacilitation #networking

Skill alert! Do you know I have received extensive training as a virtual trainer? I came across this feedback that I received from one of my courses 5 years ago! There is a lot more to delivering training virtually than most people realize. Take a look at all the things I was analyzed on following my delivery of a virtual exercise. If you are looking for help in becoming more comfortable in the virtual space, please give me a call to discuss! #spicerfacilitation #makingiteasyforyoutobesuccessful

Part of my responsibility as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is Giving Back to my community by creating knowledge in project management. Today I had the opportunity to do just that! Had a great time with students in the Environmental Impact Assessment course at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University. I presented on Project Management and Working in Teams and students were able to start planning their group projects. All felt they established a good foundation to kick off their group work. Thank you to Christine Doucet for the invitation! #spicerfacilitation #makingiteasyforyoutobesuccessful
