Little Acre Farm

I am so excited my chickens are all separated into their breeding pens. I am am estatic to be offering hatching eggs for local pickup in a couple of weeks. And once my incubator arrives I will be offering a limited quantity of straight run chicks. My focus is not necessarily on pure breeds but on a beautiful assortment of colored eggs in your basket. I have separated my birds into three different pens for optimal colour. Once all my polish girls are back laying I will also ...have a very, very limited quantity of pure gold laced polish hatching eggs and chicks as well. Our little wether named Salt n Pepper. This little goat always looks like he is smiling. It is really quite endearing. Winter is in full effect here in Ontario. It is pretty but I am so over it. These -15 C mornings are starting to get to me. At least I get to start my seeds soon. Yay!... Today is Family Day, a statutory holiday in Canada . So that means no school for our kids today which means I got some help with chores this morning. Yay! A #throwbackthursday picture of my eggs and blooms. I am beyond excited to expand the varieties of flowers we are growing in the garden this year. Last year we only grew zinnias, snaps and marigolds. This year on the docket, we have dahlias, sunflowers, nasturtium, calendula, more types of zinnias and more varieties of snapdragons and marigolds.... I did not realize how much joy these flowers could bring especially in the midst of a pandemic. I am so looking forward to spring!
