This is my 53 year old skin. No filters, no makeup, nothing on it in the first photo, and only olive oil and Copaiba oil in the second photo.Completely au natural. For the last few years I have either washed with water, or used coconut oil to remove makeup.forthe last 3 months(or longer maybe) I have used coconut oil as a moisturiser and have put frankensence on the lines around my mouth and the sides of my eyes. There was a period of my life where I followed a 30 minute ritu...al of toners and scrubs and cream and serums. I never really felt any different and it felt like a waste of time and money. I am seeing many other people like myself also seeking a minimal approach to their skin care and are simply not interested in doing all the steps that are required for many of these anti aging methods or other "best skin practices". So I (and my friend Josie LoPorto Freeborn) are going to use only water and Copaiba essential oil on our faces to demonstrate what a carrier oil like olive oil and an essential oil like copaiba can do for your skin. I’ve never done this before and am going to be very transparent here as we go along. So today is day one of washing only with water and Copaiba essential oil routine only. I will be applying Copaiba(in olive oil) twice daily. Just so you know, the Copaiba is not in a carrier oil and although I may be comfortable applying it neat to my skin, I would recommend to put it into a moisturizer or carrier oil for skin sensitivity. I will explain why I choose Copaiba in a post tomorrow (if you are interested) See more

With greyer days coming, SO many of us suffer with being sad and depressed, Getting a full spectrum light (or a SADD light) is helpful. Here are some essential oils that can also help with lifting up your spirits. Lavender The floral lightly earthy scent of lavender oil is often valued for its calming effects. It can help some of the following symptoms: relieve anxiety decrease stress... improve mood promote relaxation The herb itself may also help depression if used in a tea form. Using as an essential oil you can massage a drop on your temples, Rub it on your hands and breathe it in or apply it on the bottoms of your feet. Wild ginger Researchers found that stress-challenged mice that inhaled wild ginger oil experienced less stress. They also exhibited less depression-like behaviors. You can make an infusion of it, and drink it Or boil up some water and let it simmer on the stove or in a crock pot. IF you use as an essential oil, you can apply drops diluted in a carrier oil, and massaged onto your temples back of your neck and bottoms of your feet. Bergamot The citrus scent of bergamot oil is known for being both uplifting and calming. Bergamot oil aromatherapy has been shown to significantly reduce anxiety in people going through stress like surgery or other really stressful situations. Although depression and anxiety are different disorders, they often happen at the same time. Anxiety is also a possible complication of depression. It’s unclear how bergamot eases apprehension. It seems to help reduce the release of stress hormones during stressful situations. Other oils Some studies have shown that both ylang-ylang oil and rose oil have calming and relaxing effects. The oils can also decrease what are called autonomic functions, such as your breathing rate, heart rate, and blood pressure. There are many other essential oils are thought to relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety. Some of these oils are: chamomile frankincense grapefruit jasmine neroli sandalwood sweet orange Some of the ways you can use scent to help your mood are to use a crock pot or simmer the rind of orange, grapefruit and other citrus rinds You can also add nutmeg or cinnamon for a uplifting aroma. You can use essential oils and mixed with a fractionated coconut oil, or olive oil you can massage it on your skin or you can diffuse it in a diffuser to help keep your space calming and uplifting.

With life changing every day we all need a little help with stress. Making sure you are eating well and drinking water is first and foremost. For extra support, try diffusing a great stress relief blend of any of these three together: Jasmine, frankincense, sandalwood, geranium, bergamot, patchouli, lemongrass, and sweet orange.
