I'd like to send a card or something from 1st Acton if we could. I was a scouter with 27th Guelph for a while and this tragedy hits close to home. It could happen to anyone and lives are changed in a blink of an eye. Heartbreaking. The Great Lakes Program (GLP) is a FREE conservation education program centered around the Great Lakes their importance as a resource of drinking water and ha...bitat for thousands of aquatic species Since its inception 20 years ago the GLP has traveled to schools across Ontario to teach students how to Keep the Great Lakes great! This year, for the first time, the Great Lakes Program is being offered virtually. Teachers can book a free 45-minute virtual presentation for their classrooms, during which a freshwater biologist will visit their students live via Google Meet to talk about the Great Lakes and aquatic species local to their region. The GLP presentation is chock-full of videos and interactive activities, and offers ample time for questions and answers, all tied to the Ontario Science and Technology curriculum by grade. Programs are offered in French and English. Bookings can be made by emailing [email protected]. Please note spaces are limited and bookings are made first-come, first-serve. Teachers can also visit http://www.torontozoo.com/tz/greatlakes for additional resources such as videos, activity books and lesson plans meant to complement the topics addressed during their presentation.
