1st Carp Scouting 02.04.2021

A few snaps of 1st Carp Scout Troop earning their Match and Fire and Knife permits today! The older Scouts did a phenomenal job of leading the permit training, teaching the new Scouts how to safely use the equipment. We all enjoyed sunny skies and pleasant 4C November weather. #itstartswithscouts #scouts #scoutscanada #scoutsdostuff

1st Carp Scouts enjoyed fall colours and summer-like weather at @ottawarivercanoe today! Scouting in the time of #covid_19 means keeping our distance but there are still many outdoor adventures to be had - kayaking and stand up paddleboarding were great fun! #itstartswithscouts #scouts #scoutscanada

In-person Scout meetings will be resuming soon, but there will be several important changes to our program. As with previous years, we will start with a Parents Meeting. This year, the Parents Meeting will be virtual and offered on multiple evenings. Attendance at 1 parents meeting by at least 1 parent this year is required before youth attend in-person activities. The focus will be primarily on modifications regarding COVID. There will also be an annual update on the state... of the Group, and info on upcoming events. For flexibility, a parent can attend any of the meetings, not just the one held on their youths' usual meeting night. Registration for the meeting you select is required. Upon registering, you will be emailed a link to join the meeting. Please click one of the following to register for your preferred night: Tuesday, Sept 22 @6:30pm - with focus on Maple Colony Beavers - https://zoom.us//regi/tJwqf-Crpz8pHtA9vQqzqhBZkpm2zEMzQBDt Thursday, Sept 24 @6:30pm - with focus on Scout Troop - https://zoom.us//regi/tJUuduGpqDwvGNXJGY-REFF6X0scr3i0JG9Q Final Notes: - Scout-aged youth in Troop are also encouraged to attend the Thursday meeting. - youth who normally would have advanced sections last spring will do so late in September. Those families should consider attending the meeting with focus on your youth's new section

1st Carp Scouts were out making a difference in our local community on Saturday morning! Many thanks to the generous Carp residents who donated food, and to all the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Scouters and parents who took the time to collect throughout the village. Many hands make light work and thanks to this work, there will be more full cupboards in our community this winter. Consider the West Carleton Food Access Centre for your donations, both this holiday season and beyon...d. And thanks to West Carleton Online for their stellar coverage of this great community event.
