Merry Christmas everyone! Here’s to a happy and healthy New Year! We’re sharing photos from our traditional meal service at @tansley_woods retirement village. We all missed serving dinner to the residents this year and hope to be back there in 2021 to celebrate the holidays with them.

Our Beavers and Cubs made Christmas cards for residents at a local care home. The Beavers usually visit the residents but that was obviously not possible this year. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

We were happy to support our community with our large camping shelters and put them to good use.

We can’t sing around the campfire (too much droplet spreading) but the Beaver Scouts found it’s just as fun to say down by the bay.

A funny thing happened at my Scout meeting... - We spent this week getting to know the new Scouts in the group, played some frisbee, talked about some adventure plans, practiced how to light lanterns and change a mantle as our meeting lasts well into the dark hours with earlier sunsets. - With cooler temps rolling in we purchased a portable propane campfire pit so we can have a focal point in the dark and a heat source for chilly evenings. ... - With permission to use the field, and a quick check of the city rules, we confirmed we can use the portable campfire. - Well into our meeting we were all sitting together to talk about adventure ideas when a Burlington Fire Department truck rolled up. Everything got a bit tense as we all questioned if we made a mistake as the fire crew walked over. - We welcomed them to our Scout Troop meeting and they questioned if having an open camp fire was a wise idea. We informed them it was in fact a portable pit and turned it off, much to their surprise as they were sure we were burning charcoal and wood. They chuckled and said hold on a moment, I have to make a phone call. The crew then proceeded to chat with the kids and tell them that they too were once Scouts and asked them a few questions. - The fire chief then came back and said everything was ok. So we confirmed that we should leave if off and pack it up. No! Light it again that thing looks so real it’s amazing! So on it went again and the fire crew wished all the kids a good night and great adventures. - Everyone gained a great story to tell when they got home! - #befiresafe #scoutscanada #cecscouts #scoutroops #scoutmeeting #soihaveastory See more

This past Thursday was our first night back to in-person meetings for our Scout Troop since March. - We went for a night walk along the beach front in Burlington to get out for some exercise and let every chat while walking along. - While wearing masks and social distancing isn’t the usual approach to a meeting, everyone enjoyed the mild weather and chance to catch up with each other. ... - The kids brainstormed a few activities we can plan outdoors to enjoy some time together. Fishing, geocaching, a creek clean up, campfire, wood carving lessons, bike hike and canoeing topped the list. - We are working on getting some of these adventures planned for the next few weeks.
