As our Scouting groups are starting to meet and begin new adventures, COVID-19 has definitely changed how the program can be ran and which fundraisers we can proceed with. Therefore, the 1st Sutton West Scouts are returning to scouting with a BOTTLE DRIVE. To protect our youth, one of the Scouters (Leaders) will pick up from you once arrangements have been made. A Scout or two may join in the pick up. Please comment below or send us a private message. Thank you in advance to our wonderful community!!

Novel Coronavirus Update Nothing is more important to Scouts Canada than the safety and well-being of all youth entrusted to our care. Not only do we have a "du...ty of care" for youth, Scouters and our staff, but we also have a social responsibility to provide leadership in support of the Government of Canada. As such, Scouts Canada is supporting the direction of government and health agencies in maintaining public health. Yesterday, several provinces announced that schools will be closed to manage the spread of the novel Coronavirus COVID-19. We know this will affect many of you and also many others around us. The following actions taken by Scouts Canada will be effective Monday, March 16 until at least April 5, 2020. We will continue monitoring developments and make decisions on a possible extension, if required: All Section programs across Canada are to cease, including regular meetings, outdoor adventures, tours/visits and camps. All Scouts Canada events and activities such as Scouter Cons, Kub Kar Rallies, training, and any/all Scouter meetings will be suspended or postponed. All Scout properties will be closed and associated events cancelled or postponed. All March break camps have been cancelled. All Scout Shops will be closed; Scoutshop.ca will remain available. All Scouts Canada offices will be closed and employees asked to work remotely; offices will be available as needed for essential work only. All non-essential Scouting-related travel will be cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure that all youth, Scouters and parents are provided a safe and healthy Scouting experience. In the meantime, Scouts Canada will be providing specific guidance to Group Commissioners, Camp Managers, Event Managers, Retail Managers and Council Leadership Teams to address implications for their related activities. Please be patient with us as we ensure accurate and consistent information is developed and made available. Our guiding principles for addressing our membership during this time are as follows: Continue to direct our membership toward official government and health agency sources for resources and updates. Empower Group Commissioners by providing them with the resources and information they need to address the situation. Grow our organizational capability by ensuring that volunteers in leadership positions (Group Commissioners, Group Support Scouters, Event Committees and more) are equipped to support National actions in their local Scouting communities. More information https://www.scouts.ca/news-and-events/overview.html Recognizing these measures and actions may contribute stress during this time for our youth and members, it is important to acknowledge the psychological impacts of the current situation. For mental wellness considerations during this time of concern, WHO offers guidance on addressing wellbeing and stress for individuals, families and youth. For support on speaking with youth about COVID-19, a parent resource is available here. https://www.nasponline.org//talking-to-children-about-covi
