The City of Victoria is looking for a few more parents to participate in an online discussion next Monday evening, March 1st. They want to hear from you about the future of North Park, Fernwood and Hillside-Quadra and the needs of families. A $50 stipend is being offered for participation. The last year has made it hard to interact with our members the way we used to. So, we thought it would be a good idea to (re)introduce you to the 1UP team! To kick off #MeetTheTeamMondays, we asked Trevor, our Administrative Coordinator, some questions to get to know him!

Our friends at Community Social Planning Council have launched a Housing Relief Fund and Rent Bank. If you are experiencing a financial crisis, you may be eligible for their program. Parent Coaching at 1Up follows the Lighthouse Parent philosophy of treating kids with respect and kindness, connecting with them on an emotional level, and managing our own stress and anger to cultivate positive growth. The Clothing Room is reopening January 19th! - It will be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. - Members can book ONE, 30 minute visit per month.... Happy New Year! As we head into 2021 , here is a quick update on what is happening at the Centre: Member Market Day Is still Running: On Wednesdays, bring a bag and drop by from 11am - 2pm for a changing assortment of bread/dairy/produce/non-perishables. Clothing Room Is Currently Closed: We hope to have it up and running as soon as it's safe to do so. Stay Tuned!... When visiting the Centre, please wear a mask + practice social distancing. Just a reminder that the Centre will be closed December 24th to January 3rd. We will re-open Monday, January 4, 2021! The City has let us know they are especially hoping to get input from single parents. So far it's been an underrepresented demographic in this project. It's important that your views don't get missed. Your feedback will be appreciated. :)

Hello Dear Members, Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, we have had to close our clothing room until further notice. The Healthy Food Program pick up will continue, on Mondays from 11am to 2pm. ... Market Day will continue to run every Wednesday, drop by from 11am to 2pm. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for any changes or updates in the coming weeks. We wish you a happy and healthy day!

UPDATE: For those following Jack and Joe, as they Run For 1Up, we're aware that their support van has been involved in an accident. As far as we know, both are shook up, but not injured. We hope to be in direct contact with them very soon. And we do wish that they stay safe. An update on Joe and Jack, two 19 year-olds running the length of Vancouver Island to raise money for single parents. It’s been a stormy start to their journey, with heavy winds and steady rain as they run towards Campbell River. How do they continue running in these conditions? We want to give big, loud cheers to these two! Joe Robertson and Jack Amos are running from Port Hardy to Victoria, to raise money for the 1up Victoria Single Parent Resource Centre. How amazing is that?! Amazing kids with amazing parents! Both boys have experienced first hand the struggles of being raised by a single parent and we hope the money that is raised gives single parents some respite and support from their challenging lives.
