Yes that’s right, I rode 175km and went no where. I just felt like riding my bicycle so I did. 11 times around London. I don’t have any races coming up, no one had a gun go my head. I just kept going. It was my longest ride of the year ( more than twice as long ) and just a little longer then my longest ride ever. Legs felt great, it was mostly a mental challenge more than anything. I was even called crazy by a fellow cyclist. Pretty proud of that statement. Stats 175km /...2313m of elevation 4.5L of hydration, 1 1/2 packs of @guenergylabs chews, some energy balls, gu stroopwafel, and 4 pizza of pizza afterwards. Here are a few tricks and treats to change things around and make running more enjoyable for you. Whatever feelings or fears you associate with running leave them in your dust! Being a runner isn’t about speed or skill; it is a mindset. ... Establishing a goal for each run (even if it’s just to not walk!) creates benchmarks of your progress and a sense of accomplishment. Eventually those goals will get crazier and crazier! Slow down! Don’t even think about pace at the beginning. While it may go against the No pain. No gain. mentality, it ensures you are building your aerobic endurance and teaching your body to become more efficient. Yes, it can be isolating to run alone, but we say there’s plenty of road to share. Ask a friend you haven’t seen in a while to run with you. Switching up the time of day you run can have a huge impact on your performance and overall mood. Get to know your local running store and area running clubs to find group runs and potential training partners. There’s group accountability and pressure to keep going, even when you’re tired or the weather’s not very good. Switch up your route, find a trail that you’ve always wanted to check out. The softer terrain will be a lot better on your joints. The scenery probably isn’t bad either! Pick up a new read, from learning a new strength exercise to getting inspired about an ultra marathoner. Challenge yourself ! A new race distance, higher elevation, longer, faster. Measure, record and never look back! You might be a runner if ... We all do it, there’s no denying it! Here are some that come to mind. Putting arm up in the air to find a signal faster! I have really long arms!... You plan your vacations around races, or better yet choosing a race as your vacation. You pooped your pants on a run or came close to it and you don’t mind sharing it with your running friends or on a podcast. You see a runner in your neighborhood you wonder why you’re not already friends and you may have stalked them on Strava. You get mad when someone calls you a jogger, even the little kid on the trail. The sign on the highway says five km/miles to exit and you think, I could run that, and you do. You have at least one drawer overflowing with race shirts and are thinking about making a quilt... well you can’t but someone else might. You have to use special anti-stink laundry detergent. But you realize everyone else stinks and to embrace the stink. Much easier staying at least 6 feet apart. You wouldn’t dream of ending a run on an uneven number.
