2021 Canada Games

The 2022 Women’s Canada Games Softball team, recently sold meat pies and other items as a fundraiser to help with team expenses. When doing so, a generous supporter offered a monetary donation to provide food for a family in need. The team, who heavily relies on fundraisers, decided this was a great opportunity to give back! A plan was put in place for a food/gift drive to support families in need during the holiday season. Being a particularly difficult 2020, we felt this wa...s the year to do it! The circuit breaker measures prevented the girls from setting up at local business to do an official gift/food drive. However, local business didn’t disappoint! After a hard practice, the girls got together to wrap some gifts for a family of four, that we selected to sponsor. After practice, the team staff dropped off gifts for a single mother of three, a Turkey with all the fixings and pile of other groceries! What a great feeling to see the smile on the mother’s face and the excitement in the little girls eyes when she realized why we were there. Along with supporting this family, we also made a donation to a school to support a student in need during the holidays! It warms the teams heart to be able to give back to the community!
