Congratulation to the 2020 Towman of the Year Justin Cruse Most towers start their career with a hook and chains, but Justin started his with markers and pencil crayons. As other children were playing, Justin and his sister were working at WreckMaster (the family business) colouring in the graphics and ID cards sent to students. He also became the company camera man assisting with various photo shoots and training videos.... Sadly, in 2002 tragedy struck the Cruse family, with Justin losing his father, mother, sister and niece to a senseless violent act. Forced to step into his father Donnie’s shoes, Justin took the ball and ran with it. Many people think he runs a training company to train tow operators, but those who truly know Justin understand that his passion is for the betterment of the industry through training. Today, Justin splits much of his time between being a family man-a husband to Jill and a father to Donnie Jr and operating his business, travelling around North America assisting tow associations and advocating for the towing industry. Currently he sits on various boards and focus groups throughout the industry, always keeping what is best for tow companies and towers in the forefront of his efforts. He is a visionary, always looking to improve what is around him. The Provincial Towing Association of Ontario is honoured to recognize and award Justin Cruse with Towman of the Industry 2020.

Congratulations to the 2020 Hero of the Industry Award Winners Katie Valiquette and Chris Brown The Provincial Towing Association would like to congratulate Chris Brown and Katie Valiquette for being named Hero of the Industry 2020.... Chris and Katie own Flat Rate Towing in North Bay, a company they started 3 years ago as a scrap hauling business, turned successful towing business. Katie and Chris have always been involved in their community and when their community started to have an issue with break-ins and an increase in the crime rate, they decided to do something about it. We started to do some outreach, trying to build a rapport with those living on the streets in our community. We would bring out care packages to them and provide food in hopes that the break-ins would stop, said Katie. When COVID-19 hit, the community shelter had to close its doors, until they could develop procedures to ensure health and safety of the volunteers, staff and clients leaving no where for the homeless to go. Katie and Chris took action, knowing that the temperature was going to reach -18 degrees they reached out to the CDC to see if they could open their shop up as a warming centre until the shelter opened back up. They rallied local food stores for groceries and provided some meals for those using the warming centre during the cold snap. Chris and Katie decided to take it one step further and started a not for profit restaurant called H.O.P.E’s Kitchen which stands for Helping Our People Eat. All proceeds from the restaurant go towards their outreach and feeding the homeless in their community. We are proud to be able to present this award to both Chris and Katie and commend them on their efforts to put the needs of others before their own. https://www.thenorthbaylocal.com//h-o-p-e-s-kitchen-payin/
