Someone pointed out that I have no room for hanging dice on the mirror
Heading to a frozen sump discharge line...
I have been hearing lots of good things about the DAB pumps, finally had a chance to install one today. They are suppose to excel in the variable speed pump market.
More troubles with US shipping lines. First I saw that my preferred water heaters are becoming short stocked, now I need a control board for a furnace and they are on backorder. Lucky for me having emergency middle of the night universal parts on the truck. I just ordered a few spares prepping for an interesting cold season!
It's turning in to that season again, 3 heat tapes this week for people preparing for the next cold season. Being known as "the trailer plumber" (recently heard that this is what other plumbers are calling me, but I can wear that well) I have learned the products and techniques that last in our climates. The product I use costs more than typical products out there but I can stand behind what I install and guarantee it will last 10 years. It is what I use at my home.
I was at a job this morning and would like to share what I enjoy most about my work, it's being in people's homes and sharing moments of our lives together. Being a family oriented person, my mainstay for work is residential service work. This puts me in a position to help families when there are problems, big or small and help put minds at ease and wade through problems together. My customer this morning has not worked since Covid started, like many of my customers. Well, they received the call that they got the job while I was there, and it is such a great opportunity! The work is the easy part.

Now, that is a tight fit.
A couple of these jobs lately. Toilet flange not installed correctly and the wax ring does not get the proper compression to seal. The leak often shows up in the ceiling below, the last couple have been 4-5 year old homes
Customer liked my tool for carrying and setting these toilets. Always here to impress lol

While you are out playing with the family and the sprinkler today, give your ac compressor coil a rinse down to increase the efficiency. Filters should be changed more frequently than the winter as well. Pro tips, use gentle streams so you do not damage the coil, and do it while the unit is running so that the dust gets rinsed out and you are misted and cool while working.
We are looking for this plumber. Happy Easter!

There was a time when guys would joke that I was the older home specialist
Marathon job replacing this 79G indirect water heater.
We are looking for this plumber. Happy Easter!
Kids are getting excited for the easter bunny, good hiding place!
Replacing a burst water heater, shut off the main water and the sump pit is right there; might as well take a look. Well thats no good.
Plugged kitchen sink, while you are here could you install a garbeurator. Since the trap was installed backwards, why not.
The sump pump was fighting a losing battle and cycling frequently. Their hose was frozen so I provided one temporarily. They should be removed every evening and drained, then they can be put back on during the day. Stay tuned for a permanent fix
This tub drain has put in its time.
Probably 1/4 of these calls I attend. Most people I am able to walk them through it over the phone if they are handy. Minimum service call rate, and I never charge overtime for residential customers!
Free package of toilet paper to replace the tissue! Hopefully this will prevent further emergency calls
Good time for training for a new product; Navien NPN-Universal PREMIUM NON-CONDENSING TANKLESS WATER HEATER
Quick showers only!
When going to the truck for another hose cuts into your job time, use your grade school science skills!
Stocked up on more sump pumps Friday, and now we are back in to winter wonderland no heat calls! This light snow will melt quickly, making today a perfect time to check the furnace filter and sump pit level. If you are putting the outside hose on during the day make sure to disconnect it overnight, draining it out will make sure it isnt full of ice when you need it. Yes Mandy, sump pumps are emergencies

Update; Emergency work calls still trickling in, I have also been able to help several people over the phone. Everyone I go to visit is in good spirits and we do well with our social distancing while working, thank you! My family is hunkered down at home and I do the limited errands as needed since I am out and about, I havent had Tim Hortons coffee all week! I hope everyone is keeping well.
At this time we are going to be offering emergency work only. This will hopefully limit exposure for us and help ensure we are available for our customers when they truly need us. We ask that when calling you have the area clear for us to work and give us 2 meters of personal space.
My poor wife, all those things she can do while the kids are at school. We consider you to be part of our extended family, if there is any way we can go above and beyond to help out, please keep us mind. Summer is right around the corner, we are almost there, thats my ray of sunshine right now. Talk to you soon! https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca//students-are-expected-to-stay
Please, please, toilet paper only when you flush!
Just received my second call this week where a customer calls me with their mutlimeter in hand. A quick phone conversation and their family is feeling the warmth. As my 5 year old says, teamwork makes the dream work!
Concerns are growing, making sure my customers feel safe in their homes is my top priority. I hope you do not have any reservations when you call us! Let me know if you have special considerations.
Illnesses. Quite often we, as plumbers, are handling your mechanical systems ensuring that everyone in your home is healthy and safe. We are prone to colds and flu virus, i like to wear nitrile gloves and change them frequently to stop cross contamination when handling doors etc. My first boss taught me that the work is more important than calling in sick, service plumbers dont get that luxury. This brings me to another matter, often I do work for customers that are immunocompromised or have dayhomes, if there is a concern please let me know and we can make the proper arrangements ahead of a visit. Stay healthy friends!
Our social game is pretty strong when working with our clients, its a big part of being in your homes and building relationships. I saw this and had a laugh as it relates to the spring runoff and water filtration systems that are soon to be in high demand. Get a jump on the season and request a free quote with my book now feature at the top of the page.
Garage floor drain is slow, the home is a few years old and it sounds like its a good time for service. Well, theres the problem!
Rusty water and carpet dont mix well.
I had a customer upgrade their gas stove today. If anyone is looking for a white, gas range I can put you in touch with them. Getting a gas line installed might not be as expensive as you think, I could quote that.
Sunday fun day! Super who?? Trying to get a little more caught up
Its such a nice day out here and we have wet snow thats melting quickly. This has me anxious for spring, which also means sump pump season. Keep an eye out for pooling near your home and put the hose on for the day to get water away, if the hose is frozen in to the ground they are pretty inexpensive at Home Depot. If you have the hose on, might want to make sure pit is not filling up because it is frozen. Phone calls are always free!
Feels like +10 to this crew. It was a wild week of cold. So busy and we thank you, still working through the back up but it is dwindling quick, thank you for your patience and understanding. We of course understand that you need to call anyone you can in an emergency, we can only do so much ourselves
