Dear Parents, Youth and Scouters, Now that the school year has come to a close, we're all wondering how we can have some fun with friends while apart! Well, through some experience, I found some fun ways to have a fun digital game night! Skribbl.io... If you've ever heard of a little game called Draw My Thing, you may be familiar with how to play Skribbl.io. In this game, there's a person tasked to draw a given word while everyone else has to guess what it is that they're drawing! It's a fun game to play while on call with friends. https://skribbl.io/ Sky 'Sky' is a free mobile game created by the company that made the game 'Journey'. It's an open world multiplayer game that has the players exploring through clouds with the power of flight. This game has a lot of fun things to find and explore with friends! If you've got the time, I recommend to give this one a try. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details Uno You most likely know the classic card game Uno. Well, it's free on Android and iOS devices so you can download the game and play with friends. It's time to see who ends up drawing the most cards! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1344700142 Codenames This game is a little harder since it's a word association game that's played in teams. A lot of it requires some heavy teamwork and desicion making in order to make sure the other team can't figure out what your words are! I recommend searching up the rules for this game since it requires team leaders and a lot of cooperation. https://www.horsepaste.com/

Dear parents, youth, and scouters, I hope all of you are doing well in this unprecedented situation. To make the most out of this time, we encourage all sections to continue to practice their Scouting skills. We should always carry along a well-equipped first aid kit when we go camping. You may not need to use your first aid kit at all; however, it is always a good idea to know what is inside your first aid kit and what they do. Here is a picture that explains what items are ...in a first aid kit and their functions. Stay Safe! 28th Venturer Company

Dear Parents, Youth, and Scouters, We hope you are staying safe during these uncertain times. We hope that each and every one of you is doing well and practicing social distancing. Speaking of social distancing, this does not mean isolating yourself from your friends but rather keeping an appropriate 2m distance away from them. It is important for all of you to take care of yourselves, especially your mental health. Your mental health in simpler terms is how you are feeling. ...It is okay to feel anxious about COVID-19. Try discussing your worries with an adult or older sibling. Focus on the positives and what you are optimistic for. Ask how your family and friends are feeling? If they are feeling sad or upset, take the time to be there for them. You can always text or video chat your friends and family from the comfort of your own bed! Most importantly, take time for yourself. This means going out for daily walks, eating well, going to bed earlier, and of course watching a lot of Netflix. Remember to be kind to others and talk about your feelings to others. We have attached a mental health and self-care guide for children at the bottom of the post. Feel free to comment below on a self-care activity you enjoy doing. Stay Safe! The 28th Venturer Company

Dear Parents, Youth and Scouters Hi, it's Hana from the Venturer Company. I personally have been spending a lot more time staring at screens than I used to due to recent events and I always tend to have my eyes on the tv and on the news. Although, due to current situation digital devices is the safest way to connect with other people, those same devices also made me forget about my own hobbies and passions as I would often find myself trapped spending hours on my phone or la...ptop. Sometimes I have to remind myself (or have someone else to remind me) to do things besides browsing YouTube, watching Netflix, scrolling through Facebook, and playing video games whenever I have free time. So here's my quick reminder to everyone to disconnect, even if it's just for a short amount of time. Even if it's just thirty minutes a day, it's still just as important now to take a break from the phones and the tablets. Some quick suggestions on things to do offline: -Read a book -Solve a puzzle -Play card games -Play board games -Practice an instrument

Dear Youth, Parents and Scouters, This is the Venturer company and we just had a discussion about the current topic that has been in the news these days. There is news about systematic racism and discrimination against people with different origins and appearances. These are some things that scouts can take action and promote racial equality. Rajan: Treat everyone with kindness. Always use respectful language when talking about others and avoid using language offensive to one...’s origin, ethnicity, or race. Most importantly, remember to speak up when someone makes a hurtful comment about your own or another’s skin colour. Virginia: I will always stand up against bullying and I will not let anyone get bullied because of their skin colour. If you see anyone getting made fun of because of what they look like or where they came from, please go tell them that everyone is beautiful and unique in their own way. Bryan: It is important to acknowledge that people are brought up differently because of their cultural backgrounds and the environment that they were raised in. We should always keep in mind that we should treat others the way you want to be treated. Hana: Do not judge someone simply by the way they look or act based on stereotypes. Any kind of stereotype is harmful to the group of people that it is addressing. Instead, get to know people for who they are. You’ll find that you probably are more similar to other people than you may think and it opens up the chance to make new and meaningful connections. Yours Truly, The 28th Venturer Company
