2nd Glance is aiming for a TWO DAY SYSTEM ~ ~ to RECEIVE one day filling a compartment and the next day PROCESS a 72hr contained compartment . Therefore, every 2nd day would be a RECEIVING day and the other day would be a PROCESSING day. ... Unfortunately, RAINING days would pushed this schedule off until weather clears and the schedule would continue on the two day system. To avoid any inconvenience please phone 2nd Glance at 780-986-1450 and ask if it is a RECEIVING or PROCESSING day. Hopefully, this information helps plan for donating and help support the community.

UPDATE ~ 2nd Glance has been open for a number of days and are ADAPTING to a different way of supporting the community. The RECEIVING area has been very BUSY and a compartment fills up quickly. To enable us to accept MORE donations please - BAG clothing, linens, bedding etc - BOX glassware, household, office items... - no more than 20lb per bag/box This allows more donations to be SAFELY stacked/stored in the space without items getting broken and risking injury. It takes time to empty a compartment and process contents appropriately and the staff and volunteers APPRECIATE your patience. Due to COVID19 we are UNABLE to accept donations EVERYDAY. We are aiming to receive donations EVERY OTHER day (unless it is RAINING). This will enable staff to fill a compartment one day and empty a 72hr contained compartment the other day. Please call 2nd Glance 780-986-1450 to find out if it is a receiving day or a processing day.

Donations ~ Due to the COVID19 pandemic, the new system for receiving donations is evolving and MAY CHANGE DAY TO DAY. 2nd Glance has brought in a seacan with three separate compartments. Once a compartment is full, it will be CONTAINED for 72hr. The second day the next compartment will be filled and the last compartment on the third day. Then on the forth day the first compartment which has been contained for 72hrs, will be emptied and brought into the building and safely ...processed and become available for purchase. Once a compartment is emptied, it will be then available to receive donations again. This rotation will continue for everyone’s safety: the staff, volunteers and the community supporters whom are donating items. 2nd Glance can NOT accept donations while it is RAINING because the items may become musty/moldy over the three day containment period. It is a process that has its challenges, please PHONE 2nd Glance at 780-986-1450 to avoid any inconvenience for donating.

Unfortunately, 2nd Glance will not be able to receive donations during rainfall. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We are pleased to be open with a new way of doing business. In getting ready to re-open we have followed the guidelines set out by the Alberta Government using the initial guidelines for businesses and the guidelines set in place for retail businesses. - store shopping: a) must wear your own mask/bandana b) must use hand sanitizer at entry... c) follow signage or staff directions -yard donations: a) limited to ONE vehicle at a time b) staff will be in safety vests c) wait in vehicle for instructions We thank every one for their patience as we work through this new system for the safety of the staff, volunteers and you!

2nd Glance will be re-opening Tuesday, May 19 at 9:00am. There are new procedures being set in place for customers, staff and volunteers. The store will be completely cleaned prior to opening.... 2nd Glance is following the guidelines set out by the Alberta Government for re-opening and where necessary enhancing those regulations to better protect everyone.

Attitudes toward second-hand clothes and thrifting are changing; it’s socially and environmentally cool!

For those of you whom are following us, we know you're thrifty, creative and generous with your ideas. Here is a follower that mixes different lettuces with the same maturity date. They seed a planter every week to 10 days and have fresh grown salad throughout the season. YUM!
