2nd Russell Scouting 24.03.2021

As part of recognizing Scouts Canada and Girl Guides of Canada Week, the Township of Russell will raise the Scouts and Girl Guides of Canada flags from February... 21 to 27, 2021. Scouting and Guiding in the Township of Russell is a vital program serving youth of all ages, and provides opportunities for outdoor activities, sports, adventure, discipline, friendship and fun! Dans le cadre de la Semaine des Scouts et des Guides du Canada, la municipalité de Russell lève les drapeaux des Scouts et des Guides du Canada du 21 au 27 février 2021. Le mouvement Scouts-Guides dans la municipalité de Russell est un programme essentiel qui s’adresse aux jeunes de tous les âges et qui offre des possibilités d’activités de plein air, de sports, d’aventure, de discipline, d’amitié et de plaisir!

Scout-Guide Week 2021 - February 21st to 27th This is a time of celebration for Scouts Canada and Girl Guides of Canada a time when both organizations come together in the spirit of friendship to honor their heritage. It is also an opportunity for the public to recognize the limitless potential of Canadian youth and the work that Scouting does to help build a better world for our nation’s future leaders.... Scouting instills values of leadership, honor and teamwork through the many exciting outdoor programs it provides for close to 75,000 boys, girls and youth nationwide. Scouting programs are developed and maintained by 23,000 energetic, dedicated Scouts Canada adult volunteers who give selflessly of their time and deserve our whole-hearted praise and thanks. For so many Canadians, adventure, teamwork, good citizenship and memories of camp all started with Scouts. On Monday February 22, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and Scouters are all encouraged to wear their uniform to school or work in honor of Scouts Canada's Founder, Sir Robert Baden Powell. As a reminder, do not forget all of the Scout Week 2021 virtual activities that Scouts Canada has also organized this year which are outlined below. (For all Sections) Starts at 6:00PM Celebrate our founder's birthday with some fun breakout rooms. Must bring your own pizza and party cone hat. Tuesday, February 23 Explore New Adventures (For Scouts and above) Starts at 7:30PM Virtually tour some great camps and sites around the world and hear some testimonials from youth that have attended or worked at these great sites. Helping to fuel new future Scouting adventures! Wednesday, February 24 Skills Night (For Beavers and Cubs) Starts at 6:00PM A series of bilingual age-appropriate breakout rooms to join to refresh / explore / discover a handful of new skills. Thursday, February 25 Scouters Mug Up (For Scouters ONLY) Starts at 8:00PM Network with other volunteers and share ideas and opportunities for all to explore with their Sections. Friday, February 26 Outdoor Adventure Film Festival (For Scouts and above) Starts at 7:30PM Thanks to the Ottawa Adventure Film Festival, SC is bringing some curated adventure films to enjoy on your couch. These adventure flicks and documentaries will definitely flame your passion for the outdoors. On February 26th, SC will also host a special Q&A about the films, with some special guests that you will recognize from the films. Saturday, February 27 Scout Week Virtual Campfire (For all Sections.) Starts at 6:00PM A fabulous way to end our week of festivities, as we will gather online to enjoy many contributions from our members coast to coast. SC guarantees no smoke in your eyes.

Scout Week 2021 - Pre-event activities to try out. Oreo Brownie in a Mug https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KfuarwY0WU&feature=youtu.be... Ingredients 4 Regular Oreo Cookies, broken 3 Tbsp. Milk Directions Crush the cookies together well in a medium dish to break up any large to medium pieces. Stir in milk. Give a microwave safe mug a spritz or two of spray oil or rub inside of mug with a little butter or margarine. Spoon batter into mug and microwave on high for 2 minutes. Let rest for 12 minutes before removing cake from mug. Enjoy!

Scout Week 2021 - Pre-event activities to try out. Mug Cinnamon Rolls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YB1q790Xr7c&feature=youtu.be... Cinnamon roll ingredients Cup all-purpose flour 1 Tbsp. brown sugar tsp. baking powder 1/8 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. cinnamon 1 Tbsp. chopped pecans or walnuts (optional) Tbsp. butter, melted 2 Tbsp. milk Cinnamon Swirl Ingredients Tbsp. butter, melted 1 tsp. brown sugar tsp. cinnamon Icing Ingredients 1 Tbsp. powdered sugar tsp. milk Directions In a medium bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and pecans (if using). Stir in butter and milk to make a dough and work together until all ingredient are combined. In a small dish, stir together the ingredients for the swirl. Press out dough into about a 1/8(4mm) by 1 (4 cm) by 6 (15 cm) bar. Spread with swirl and roll up. Give a microwave safe mug a spritz or two of spray oil or rub inside of mug with a little butter or margarine. Squish roll into mug and microwave on high 1 minute and 45 seconds. Let rest for 12 minutes before removing roll from mug. Meanwhile, stir together glaze ingredients and brush over roll while it is still warm. Enjoy!

Scout Week 2021 - Pre-event activities to try out. Cookie in a Mug https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiDCsEoWVs0&feature=youtu.be... Ingredients 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter or margarine 2 Tbsp. fine (granulated) sugar 1 Tbsp. light brown sugar 1 Large egg tsp. pure vanilla extract 1/3 Cup all-purpose flour (a G/F blend works too!) tsp. baking powder Pinch of salt 2 Tbsp. chocolate chips Instructions In a medium bowlcream together the butter and both sugars until light. In a small dish, whisk the egg and vanilla together. Beat into butter mixture until well combined then stir in the flour, baking powder and salt. Stir the chocolate chips into the batter then give a microwave safe mug a spritz or two of spray oil or rub inside of mug with a little butter or margarine. Spoon batter into mug and microwave for 1 to 1 minutes on high. Let rest for 12 minutes before removing cake from mug. Enjoy!
