To my valued clients, Please let me start by saying how much I miss you, and how grateful I am for the outpouring of support during these trying times and for your patience and understanding over the last few months. Today, I received notification from my governing college that Registered Massage Therapists have been granted permission to resume treatment. While this news is certainly a positive step forward, it also comes with many questions of what the new normal will lo...ok like moving forward in relation to Massage Therapy. I will be honest when I tell you that this report came as a bit of a shock to not only myself, but the Massage Therapy community in Ontario. We, unfortunately, were not given much insight leading up to today, leaving us a bit confused as to what is expected of us in order to reopen and maintain proper standards in accordance with the Ministry of Health, Public Health Ontario and the CMTO (College of Massage Therapists of Ontario). The order to reopen was also pretty misrepresented in the media... It is to be very gradual and I certainly will not be able to start immediately or with my usual number of clients in a day. The report provided to us did indicate: -Both myself and you, the client MUST wear a mask during the ENTIRE treatment (upon entry, throughout the treatment, upon exiting). -A COVID-19 screening process will be required for each client at the time of booking as well as the day of the appointment. -We need to prioritize clients with essential care needs while gradually resuming practice. Treatment is considered essential when the client’s overall health or function would considerably decline if treatment were not provided (i.e. lead to hospitalization or other serious health consequences). -We must ensure all cleaning, disinfecting and sanitation protocols are upheld for each client. More time between appointments will be required. These are just a few of the requirements/changes to our standard of practice. I am hoping for more insight over the next few days. As a home based business, my number one priority is the safety of my family, myself, and my clients. I ask for your understanding and patience while I continue to look into requirements to practice and modifications for my home and work area to keep everyone safe. I'll need some time to gather PPE and to get my clinic set up for business again. I will likely start taking a few clients by the end of next week and I'll be calling to make appointments in a few days. My plan is to reschedule everyone in the order of their appointments at the time of closure and then I'll be getting to all new clients who have contacted me over the past couple of months. Exception being of course anyone needing emergency/essential care. Thank you, Cassidy Peplinskie, RMT
IMPORTANT NOTICE Due to the latest recommendations from the Ministry of Health and the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, I will be closed for at least the rest of this week and maybe longer depending on what unfolds in the next little while. I will reassess at the end of this week and decide what to do about subsequent weeks/appointments.... I wish I could stay open and continue to treat all of my clients, but it could be risky for all involved and I also don't want to jeopardize my registration status. I apologize for the inconvenience but I will be contacting everyone who has appointments this week and rescheduling for later in the month or possibly next month. Stay safe and I'll see you all when everything opens up again!
Good Morning As a health care provider, I am taking steps to be proactive in the recent outbreak of Covid-19. I ask clients to please let me know if they have been experiencing symptoms such as cough, fever, or shortness of breath.... I ask that anyone experiencing symptoms, or those that have travelled abroad in the last 14 days, to please reschedule their appointment. Should I become ill with any symptoms, I will reschedule any up coming appointments. I also ask that you wash your hands when coming in, and leaving, the building. If you are healthy and haven't been in contact with anyone who's recently come into the country, by all means come in for your regular appointment. As a healthcare practitioner I am and have always been required to sanitize all of my equipment and follow all steps towards preventing infectious disease. Thank you for working towards our common goal in this developing situation.
