Christmas Eve supper is smoked duck and fries from our garden Russet potatoes and homemade lard.

I’d be willing to bet the farm that nothing smells better than our home right now. Spruce logs crackling and heating our home, our farm raised chicken carcasses roasting in the oven to make a nutritious broth and fresh bread baking. Our newly dug livestock well has no problems keeping up to our cows. For the past few years we’ve had to dig a hole into the ice, drop a pump down into the dugout and pump up to the trough. Every. Day. And although it’s not an automatic watering bowl set up we sure do love how much easier and quicker this new setup is. We’re lucky to have two large dugouts to tap into for our barnyard and gardening. #waterislife #winterfarming #cattlefarming #saskatchewanfarmlife
