Celebrate our province’s diversity! Every year in BC the third week in November is proclaimed as #MulticulturalWeek. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our multicultural communities and to appreciate the way diversity enriches British Columbia. Multiculturalism strengthens our province and puts us on the map as a society that values inclusion and cultural diversity something every British Columbian can be proud of. So what is the BC Multiculturalism Act? Here is a 1-page version of the act. With the extra formalities of legal-speak trimmed down, it is an insipring document that presents a version of the province that we are always striving to realize.
The Kamloops Hindu Cultural Society marks #Diwali this year, this Sunday Nov. 15th with a special fundraiser event: "Hello and Namaste to Everyone, This year is unique because of Pandemic Covid - 19. This pandemic has made the regular social festivities and interactions very challenging this year, so as a safety measure Kamloops Hindu Cultural Society is not organizing any in person events including Deepawali. But at the same time to celebrate some festivities in a symbolic... way and to keep the cultural and tradition of celebration going, KHCS is organizing a Drive in / Pick Up Diwali Dinner. Tickets are $100 each, and include the following items: Paneer Butter Masala (Paneer Maakhani). Chana Masala. Mixed Vegetable Curry. Mixed Pakoras. Naans (06). Jeera Fry Rice. Salad. Dessert (Gulab Jamun 04).
Happy #Diwali Kamloops! Diwali is widely known as a Hindu tradition, however it is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and Newar Buddhists. For each faith it marks different historical events and stories, but nonetheless the festival represents the same symbolic victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. This 5-day celebration falls on Nov. 12~16.
