Knowing when to visit an eye doctor to get your eyes checked is important. Not only is this information valuable, but it could also save you from potentially developing advanced eye conditions that might not have symptoms at early stages. Only your optometrist can determine how frequently you should be seen for eye examinations. However, the Canadian association of optometrists recommends the following as the minimum frequency for routine eye examinations: Infants and toddler...s should undergo their first eye examination between the ages of 6 and 9 months. Preschool Children 2 to 5 years of age should undergo at least one eye examination in this period. School children aged 6 to 19 years should undergo an eye examination annually. Adults aged 20 to 39 years should undergo an eye examination every 2 to 3 years; Adults aged 40 to 64 years should undergo an eye examination every 2 years; Adults aged 65 years or older should undergo an eye examination annually. 360 Eyecare’s custom lenses provide wider fields of view and give sharper image quality and better peripheral vision. Patients report that they can make out subtle differences in colours and shades of light and dark. Where discount eyeglass shops usually use pre-molded templates (stock lenses), 360 Eyecare’s digital lenses are bespoke, and created for each patient’s individual prescription, face and frame. We offer custom tints and anti-reflective treatments as well. #360eyecare #360eyecarerosedale #toronto #yorkvilletoronto #eyeglasses #optometrist

Many parents are unsure as to when screenings of their children’s vision and ocular health should commence. You may find yourself wondering if an eye examination is something your child truly needs or if it is something that can wait until they express some level of discomfort. The reality is that not all issues relating to vision and health of the eyes have symptoms. That is why routine eye examination is recommended for people of all ages. Your child may not even be aware ...that they are having issues with their eyesight because they have only seen the world through their eyes; they do not have anything else to compare it to. They may be unaware that their vision is not what it should be. For this reason, it is recommended by eye care specialists that children 6 months of age complete their first eye examination and continue to have them annually until the age of 19. In Ontario eye examinations are covered under OHIP until your child turns 20 years of age. This makes seeing an optometrist more accessible for all Ontario children and enables earlier diagnosis and treatment if necessary. Our Optometrists are here to help. "Why is my vision getting worse?" This is a common question, asked by many at any given point in their lives, but particularly as they get older. Even those who enjoyed perfect vision growing up and during their early adulthood find the glasses-free lifestyle does not last as we age into our forties, fifties, and sixties. So, what is happening? Why do our eyes and our vision change so drastically as we age? Read our latest blog post to learn more.

What is the 20-20-20 rule? If you find that you are using screens for a large portion of your day, it is important to give your eyes a break in order to prevent digital eye strain. Every 20 minutes, you should take your eyes away from your screen to look at something approximately 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Remembering to blink often will also help to keep your eyes moist. If you find that you are experiencing eye strain or eye fatigue, please give our office a call. We are here to help.

As the numbers of positive Covid-19 cases rises within the city, we at 360 Eyecare have continued to take precautions to help keep our staff and our patients safe, and to help minimize the spread of the virus. These precautions that were implemented at the start of the pandemic will stay in place for the foreseeable future as we continue to follow the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health. Eye health does not take a back seat during these times. In fact, it may be more imp...ortant now. Many Canadians are finding themselves in front of screens as they work remotely from home. Some of these Canadians suddenly find themselves working long hours in front of a computer or laptop and are experiencing things such as eye strain and eye fatigue for the first time. Some are finding that their glasses no longer work into their home office set up. Even some are discovering a need for glasses for the first time. Learn more about what to expect at an appointment with 360 Eyecare during Covid-19 on our recent blog post: Covid-19 Safety and Eye Health - https://www.360eyecare.ca/covid-19-safety-and-eye-health/

An eye exam is more than just reading letters from a chart; it is a comprehensive medical exam that evaluates the health of the eye and related structures from the front all the way through to the very back. As such, sometimes advanced diagnostic techniques are required for the Optometrist to fully isolate and identify underlying conditions. We recommend having your eyes checked every one to two years to ensure good vision health. Give us a call to speak with one of our Optometrists or book your next eye exam online and choose your appointment time with our online booking system. https://360rosedale.mypatientportal.ca/dashboard
