3 Seasons athlete @zach.pease is putting in the work to prepare for his season of professional hockey with the Knoxville Ice Bears of the SPHL. His current phase is focusing on the eccentric (negative/lowering) portion of the exercise. On this day Zach did 5 sets of 3-4 reps of incline close grip bench press with a 80X0 tempo - that meant he took 8 seconds to lower the bar to his chest, then made his best effort to press the bar explosively. In contact sports like hockey eccentric strength dictates how well you can absorb contact, so it’s vital for keeping you safe and reducing injury risk.
