Guru Purnima: A day to celebrate your chosen spiritual teachers and express gratitude, a celebration of interdependence, a day when we acknowledge all those who have taken us by the hand to guide us toward the beauty of our true nature. Teachers come in many forms - parents, educators, friends, but situations and circumstances become our teachers too - loss, pain, crises. Each one of us is a blend of all of our teachers. To heal each other let us see each other, hear each other and feel each other. We are all interconnected. As always, I am truly grateful for your continued presence and support. -Sandie

A message of solidarity for students: "I’ve taken time away from social media since the pandemic that has adjusted our global community appeared at home in SK. Since then, there has been much debate, study, and meditation with my peers of the vast disparity in our communities and relative complacency within existing social justice movements. As 3ZU Director I acknowledge that yoga originated with POC and our Western yoga culture centres around the needs and struggles of whit...e woman in ways that clearly intersect with colonial oppression and result in systemic oppression; as a teacher of yoga you already know me to challenge unjust practice with a commitment to exploring, learning, and citing correct cultural references and I will continue to use my privilege by invoking awareness because things still need to change. Let’s all do better. We need to." -Sandie See more

Start where you are. This is very important - meditation practice is not about later, when you get it all together and when you’re this person you really respe...ct. What you do for yourself, any gesture of kindness, any gesture of gentleness, any gesture of honesty and clear seeing toward yourself, will affect how you experience your world. We practice together, apart. It is within that we will find connection to each other, in these times. However it is that you are able to discover your practice (reminder: this looks different for each of us); meditation, physical form, readings, chants, contemplation, just breathing... know it is enough. I will not be offering online classes like so many others (please support our greater community if you require an aid to guide you at home), because that is not what is ...needed from me. I will be joining you all on my mat at home each day with intensity of spirit, dedication, and heart; studying, resting, breathing, prayers... for this honours what I can do best to serve my community when not able to be in class with you and interacting one-on-one (my call as a teacher of yoga is to hold the space to be present with your practice and bring attention to where it is you require consciousness to flow - and I cannot do this as an online format). We are fortunate to hold classes again when the time comes, and this time between spent practicing being a teacher of yoga in new ways along with you who is learning to be a student in new ways. Thank you all for your support, to me and our 3ZU.YOGA teachers. I am happy to answer any questions you may have (email, messages, phone, zoom), for any guidance, until we meet again. -Sandie

"Ingelise was the teacher that awoke intelligence of heart in my practice. I was fortunate to study with her In my early 20's & 30's often, as she and Jo-Ann worked together very well. I loved her dearly, and wish for those she loved and those who loved her to find peace in news of her passing - as she lived & taught us well." -Sandie
