Thanks to Richard Reeves for putting together images from around Creston Valley for A Full Plate Canada 150. He added the voices of the Therapeutic Activation P...rogram for Seniors (program of Valley Community Services) choir and band. The lyrics of Red River Valley were rewritten by Frank Brummet (deceased) and shared with the choir and band as they performed their Canada 150 project at a Creston Valley Farmers Market at the CV Visitor Centre and Chamber of Commerce:' Historical Vignettes' Sing a long with us! Creston Valley Arts Council is back in the newly decorated Chamber of Commerce Building, next to the Farmers Market. New art exhibit planned to open April 27th.and the new office and gift shop space should be ready May 18th.!! The volunteers at the Arts Council have been working hard on behalf of the artistic community of this valley. 4 Corners supports this venture and offers its supports wherever it can. Way to Go Arts Council. We have been especially busy this past few months and have been trying to renew our wall of samples with new frames that we have. A few more weeks should do it (she said hopefully) but seriously we would like to thank the people of this area for your support and trust in us to frame it right! Thank You.

Just got back from the 'Pink Garden Tea' which Debbie Graham hosts every year to raise money for cancer research or to provide funds to purchase diagnostic equipment used in cancer care. A big thank you to Debbie who puts an awful lot of work into this project and to her team of dedicated helpers. The well known and local water colour artist Laura Leeder also lends her support to this cause each year and is always very generous with her donations. Laura is known primarily for... her 'Tea Cup' series of paintings but also has some beautiful paintings of flowers and now butterfles. Because Laura uses our services for all her custom framing we decided to do a little cross promotion. We thought it would be a good idea to get a ahead on the gift giving season or for that special birthday gift. Even framing one of Laura's Notecards would bring a smile to a beloved face. The following poster gives the details. See more

Got to brighten up Creston guys so we don't notice the cloud so much. You could brighten up a room by re-framing &/or re-matting an old picture - add some pizzazz, some style or some elegance to just one piece and see how it changes the whole room! You could also attend the annual Creston Christmas Art & Craft Market next Saturday - the 19th - at the Rec Centre which is organized by the Creston Arts Council. Lots of vendors, many returning but many new ones too! You'll get a free raffle ticket just for attending and could win a beautiful basket of goodies which have been donated by the vendors - many draws throughout the day...Admittance is a Cash donation to the local Food Bank - just what you can afford. Please support this local event.

It's never too early to think about planning that gift list. Custom frame a print or photo for a unique gift that will be appreciated for years to come. Put a float frame around a canvas/gallery wrap for that special touch or custom frame a piece of children's art to bring a smile to a grandparents' face.. frame a series of note cards for impact...the possibilities are endless. Visit our web site for information on our work and lots more...www.4cornersmatting-framing.com

Is Summer really over? Sure feels like the furnace should kick in anytime soon. One of our grandkids went back to school last week! Trying to get some clean up done before we get busy for the lead up to the winter season. Planning on overhauling our frame samples, which is quite the job, but has to be done - need to replace old samples with new lines. The Summer seems to have flown by probably because we've been so busy with visitors, it was just one of those years! Arts Cou...ncil meetings are starting up soon as well as the drop-in art club, which I'm really looking forward to. Have to frame a wedding photo for our niece and her husband who got married on the island of Cyprus, then we'll have to send it to the UK - it's only 12 months late. Thankfully they understand that when you have a business - the customers come first! We've had some really different framing orders this year - one of the stand outs for me was a very large - well, life-size brass rubbing of a knight and his lady - very unique and such a treat to work on. It was so rewarding when we delivered the finished piece to our customers' home and saw her reaction - it had been rolled up for years. Wonder what we'll have this coming year? See more

Big panic a few days ago - our mat cutter head broke - but all is cool, Terry went to Calgary to pick up a replacement. Big thanks to Wayne Richens who helped big time with the installation of the new cutter. The mat cutting is better than ever I'm told so that's good news! Congratulations to our friends Beth and Ed who bought a house here after moving from Calgary - also expecting Terry's brother to move here permanently at the end of this month - he's moving here from Marathon, Ontario. Lots of people criss crossing the country right now. We're missing our friends Kerry and Guy Hobbs who are on their way across Canada to their new home in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. Really enjoying the blog Kerry has posted on FB about their adventures along the way. Look up Kerry and Guy's Excellent Adventure for laughs and photos.

Well, that 'just after Easter' turned into after the May long weekend, but after much help from Mark Artyniuk at oswebhosting we have a better web site. Still need some tweaks but mainly there. Take a look and let us know what you think - suggestions welcome... Been an explosion of people that need quality picture framing, which is great, most people are more informed now on the need for protection and preservation when framing artwork - especially originals and heirloom piec...es. That being said we also understand the need to keep within a budget so we have sourced a clear glass that will also offer UV protection without paying the price of conservation grade. We have some friends and family moving here this year but also friends moving away, which makes us sad - but excited for them and hey! - just keep thinking it's one more place on the bucket list! Enjoy the Summer, hopefully without smoke this year - and a good idea to have an Emergency bag packed, just in case - real easy to unpack - rather than attempt to replace the irreplaceable. See more

Finally got a couple of minutes to remove the Christmas Holly from our website!! More changes to come soon - should be a great improvement. Let us know what you think - maybe by the end of the week or just after Easter. First day of Spring - amazing what those words do - get up and go, get things done, plan ahead - and on and on. Fantastic! Our Frequent Framer Rewards are on-going so discounts really add up - come see what you've been missing - but please phone ahead - just to make sure we (or one of us) is home. Gift certificates have been popular lately too and really are a thoughtful way of showing you care.

We had a wonderful Christmas after finally getting all of our (needed for Christmas) orders finished and picked up. Looking forward to 2016 and the new and returning customers we will see in this fabulous business - something we truly enjoy. Wishing everyone a terrific New Year - All the Very Best for 2016.

Well, almost that time - just another few days. Waiting for a delivery which was supposed to be here by Tuesday this week - now the delivery people say today - Ho, Ho, will they make it through the snow? Have 3 more orders to complete - providing that truck gets here!! Looking forward to a fun time with friends tonight providing our reindeer make it through to their isolated abode! Enjoyed a walk along Canyon yesterday and enjoyed (too much) time looking at the very interesti...ng toy department in Creston Cards - picked out a couple of things I'd like myself from Santa! It was great to see the Christmas spirit among the shoppers out and about and the vendors who had provided so many wonderful goods for us to choose from. More to see at the market tomorrow after calling at Black Bear Books to pick up my book order - have to find out which delivery people they use! Snow really coming down now...will it still be around for the 25th? To everyone out there - Have a wonderful time with friends and family over Christmas and New Year - please keep safe... See more

Went out on another mobile visit today - great idea for someone who is housebound or has small children and just can't make it down to our workshop. Looking forward to another great evening at the Drop In Art Club at the college tomorrow - always have fun and learn so much from the people there. $10 per session, 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.- call for dates. Anybody ready for Christmas or is it just me that isn't?? Just started to shop at Tila's Open House this past Monday. Guy Hobb's Open Studio is on Saturday - poster on this page - so should be lots of fun, looking forward to seeing all his paintings together - just amazing work - and Kerry (his wife) has a super line of candles that she makes - beautiful colours! Busy, busy until Christmas.....should get some elf hats!

It was great to talk to so many people at the Christmas Art & Craft Market on Saturday, terrific turn out. Thanks to Creston for once again supporting local entrepreneurs and also contributing to the fund raising for the local Food Bank. A big Thank You too to Anne Fetterly of the Creston Valley Arts Council (and Earth, Wind and Fibre) who has organised this show for the last few years - a lot of work but always with a smile while also getting her own beautiful creations ready - Thanks! Also a personal Thank You to Kerry & Guy Hobbs who helped us set up and take down and very generously lent us one of Guy's original paintings that we had framed (Fashion Victim) so that we could display in our booth. Thanks again! Very busy with our framing right now so after cleaning up after the show - it's back to work we go, Hi, Ho!, Hi Ho...

The Cemetery Tour, Halloween afternoon was terrific. Tammy Hardwick, Manager of the Creston Valley Museum had done an outstanding job of researching the subject and kept everyone interested. Considering it was raining and there were probably 50 people there this was really impressive. It inspired us so much we came home, dressed up the porch and ourselves and handed out more goodies than we'd ever done before! Good Job Tammy - you also saved me from having to eat the Halloween 'leftovers'!!! Working like crazy on orders - just hope we have time to prepare enough other stuff for the Christmas Market - see below! Ho, Ho, Ho.........not long to go - phew!

4 Corners Matting & Framing 21.11.2019

Great to get back to a steady working schedule after a Summer of also 'playing tourist' with visitors. Went over (or up?) to Castlegar yesterday for a seminar - what a beautiful drive - strange to see some snow at the top of the Pass and drive through cloud. We certainly live in an awe inspiring part of the country. Was with a couple of artists and an artists' husband - really great company and terrific conversation - and learned lots! Noticed the sculpture installations at v...arious intersections in Castlegar - made the place look 'different' and memorable. We need to get Creston to stand out, we're small so have to make people look, and look again. 'Course the empty downtown stores don't help - any way the property owners would consider hanging local artists' work in their windows? - could rotate locations &/or artists on a monthly basis, each piece could have a card indicating the price and artists' contact info - it would be an added sales outlet for the artists and dress up the property too!! Any other ideas for a makeover? See more

Can almost see up the lake from my office window, need some more wind to remove some very tenacious leaves before the 'view' is back - not too much wind though, cannot imagine 300 kmph wind gusts that were blowing down Mexico way, that might remove the trees as well as the leaves...Thankfully it wasn't as bad as expected down there but now moving through Texas. Revised the web site (again), looks better now I think. Getting quite busy now, people getting orders in early for C...hristmas. Amazing what a thoughtful gift custom framing can be. Really enjoying the drop-in Art Club at the college, great group of folks and get amazing cookies too - gottta find out where they get those! If my next project turns out well I might frame it - course it helps to know the framer!!! Looking forward to the Cemetery Tour next Saturday afternoon put on by the ghouls at the Museum....2:00 pm at Pioneer Cemetery, cost - a cash donation - suggested $5...pretty low for what should be an interesting time before the little people in costumes take over. Happy Thanksgiving to all and safe driving if you are travelling. Seem to have arrived at Thanksgiving awfully quickly this year or is this just me getting a bit older? Since I refuse to think like that it must be that we have had so much fun this year with tons of visitors and doesn't time fly when....? Looking forward to meeting many interesting people in our business and to the varied artwork and creativity shown by this community. We really need longer days to accomplish all that our minds conjure up. Have a look at the Artists for Conservation website - there is a truly beautiful 2015 book available for sale which includes one of our local artists - Congratulations to Guy Hobbs on this latest accomplishment! Talking of whom (GH) - need to get my project off the ground for the next Drop In Art Club at COTR on Thursday...
