Join us for our last week of our Taste of Regent Park Community Take-out Meal tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26th from 6-7pm out front of 40 Oak St.! Our community meals are free but online donations are encouraged, here: https://www.fredvictor.org/taste-of-regent-park/ We have loved seeing community members return back week after week to enjoy meals catered by our diverse and talented community caterers. To finish off our last week we will have a Thai menu prepared by the owner...s of Maya Bay right in Cabbagetown, at the corner of Carlton and Parliament St. "Maya Bay is a new Thai restaurant & bar run by Thai owners who want to share their experiences about Thai food and culture. We want to create a fun and friendly atmosphere to our customers and make them feel like they are getting away on a vacation in Thailand. Our restaurant serves authentic and fusion Thai cuisine, desserts, snacks and drinks. We make our food the way we (Thais) like to eat. For Taste of Regent Park, we have decided to make a Green Chicken Curry and Tofu (veggie option) accompanied with rice. Thai green curry has a special sweetness to it. For those who do not like spice, rather than using red chillies, fresh green bird's eye chillies are used instead. While green bird's eye chillies are spicier than red chillies, the use of palm sugar and coconut milk dulls it's spiciness. Basil is also key to a fragrant Thai curry dish and is widely grown and used in Thailand. The use of basil, coconut milk, fish sauce and chillies is what makes Thai curry stand out among other types of curries around the world. We really hope to share a good vibe and experience with the Regent Park and Cabbagetown community. We look forward to meeting members of the community and new customers!" For more information on @Maya Bay, you can find them here: 252 Carlton St, Toronto, ON M5A 2L3 (416)924-8989 As always, we ask that you wear a mask and maintain social distancing of 2 metres when waiting in line and picking up your meal. #tasteofregentpark #RegentPark #communitymeal

Join us for our 2nd last week of Taste of Regent Park's Take-out Community Meal from 6-7pm tonight (Wednesday) out front of 40 Oak st. Tonight our talented caterer is Patricia Chung, proud owner of Singh's Trini Stylezs Doubles and Catering and is well known in Regent Park for her community spirit and her famous Trinidadian Doubles, prepared with the perfect flavor, consistency, spice and aroma. Through the Regent Park Catering Collective and catering group at Yonge Street M...ission, Chung quickly gained a lot of praise and returning customers who encouraged her to start her own business. She was surprised by all the support, but could not afford to start a business at the time. That changed when Patricia and her niece came across tents lined up at Taste of Regent Park, CRC’s summer market festival where local vendors sell their food and artisanal products. Chung has been selling to line ups of customers at ToRP for 4 years now, and also at Singh's Trini Stylezs, housed in her retrofitted shipping container at Market 707, outside the Scadding Court Community Centre, a space that brings together local entrepreneurs. *Please respect social distance guidelines when waiting and getting your take out box by wearing a mask and maintaining 2 metres of distance.* Meals are free but we appreciate any donations, which you can make at https://www.fredvictor.org/taste-of-regent-park/ #TasteofRegentPark #CommunityMeal #RegentPark

Join us tomorrow for another Taste of Regent Park Take-Away Community Meal out front of 40 Oak st. As always meals are free, but donations are encouraged through this link: https://www.fredvictor.org/taste-of-regent-park/ *Please wear a mask and keep social distancing while in line to keep our community safe & healthy*... Our talented caterers for the night are Foyzun Nahar Ahmed and Nurun Nahar, who are both prominent caterers of Banglar Saad Catering. Banglar Saad meaning "a taste of Bangladesh", is a community-based catering company in the Regent Park neighbourhood in Toronto. Both ladies learned how to cook from their mothers while growing up. For this week's meal, they chose to make Chickpea Curry and Red Lentil Puri served with Mixed Vegetables and their Special Salad. Yum!! When asked about their two main dishes, they shared that chickpeas are a very versatile ingredient that is grown back in Bangladesh. They can be roasted and eaten like a snack, blended into a dip for an appetizer or used in stews or salads. During Ramadan, chickpeas are particularly popular as they are high in fibre and protein; keeping you full for longer! Red Lentil Puri is a type of Bangladeshi street food that isn’t usually made at home, however the ladies managed to learn it from friends. Puri is a childhood favorite that reminds the ladies of their hometown. To contact Foyzun and Nurun for catering and some more South Asian Bengali flavours, you can contact: [email protected] Fred Victor - Helping People Find Place & Purpose #banglarsaadcatering #tasteofregentpark #communitymeal #regentpark

Join our Taste of Regent Park (take-out style) Community Meal tonight from 6-7pm out front of 40 Oak St.! Our community meal today is prepared by Zarghoona and Malika, who are experts of Afghani cuisine. As always our meal is FREE, but donations are encouraged here: https://www.fredvictor.org/taste-of-regent-park/ Get to know more about tonight's caterer, Zarghoona here: ... "My name is Zarghoona Qayoumi, I am from Afghanistan. I have 4 beautiful daughters & a handsome husband that have supported me through my journey with catering. I started cooking Afghan dishes at a very young age back in Afghanistan. The individual that taught me how to cook is my mother. I started catering at Yonge Street Mission in 2006, just by making a small dish for my colleagues at a potluck. My colleagues ended up loving the dish & encouraged me to get my food handling certification. With that being said, I started my journey by taking small orders & including a personal touch of spicy sauce (chaknee) in every order. I have worked with community kitchens, catered for big events, am currently working with Regent Park Catering Collective and have cooked for Taste of Regent Park for 4 seasons. I am very grateful for where I currently am in my catering career; started off with cooking food for small groups & now comfortable catering for over 250 people! Thanks to all the support & encouragement that has put me in the position I am today, Alhamdulliah." If you would like to order catering from Zarghoona, you can contact her by email at: [email protected] *Please follow social distancing rules, by staying 2m apart and wearing a mask when waiting in line and picking up your take out box meal* Fred Victor - Helping People Find Place & Purpose
